Sorry no Saffa teams, we are trying to maintain a reasonable standard of football.

Both Kiwi teams top of the ladder btw, which is what Enz is pointing out.

Auckland hammer the Phoenix 2 - 0 (with a clear penalty declined as well) in Wellington.

An unbeaten (and clear sheet) start with 3 from 3.

Round 3

Brisbane Roar 2 - 3 Sydney FC - Brisbane's season not starting well with two straight dropped, close game though. Sydney will be happy with the points away from Home.

Phoenix 0 - 2 Auckland - Three from three for the Auckland team, fun fact - yet to be scored against. Hasn't started well for Wellington, but enough runs on the board to be looking toward the finals.

Mariners 0 - 0 Perth Glory - Not a great result for the Mariners who have drawn the first three matches of the season, not a great return on investment, Perth will be happy to get a point in the positive column.

Western Sydney 3 - Adelaide United 4 - big scoring match, guess defense was an afterthought for this one. Adelaide nailing their start to the 2024 season, West Sydney not so much.

Melbourne Victory 1 - 1 Macarthur - game still underway

Western United - Melbourne City - game tomorrow.

Wondering if Auckland have made a bit of history here, will need to do some checking, believe Western Sydney may have had an excellent start when they entered the league.

Round 4

Western Sydney 4 - Newcastle Jets 1, Jets are having another mare of a season

Melbourne Victory 2 - 0 Brisbane Roar

Adelaide United 2 - 1 Western United, nice win at home for Adelaide.

Mariners 0 - 3 - Good win to the Phoenix on the road, season not starting well for my team.

Sydney FC 1 - 2 Macarthur - Upset win, surprisingly Sydney has dropped a couple this year already

Perth Glory 0 - 5 Melbourne City - Not a great result for the Western faithful, really their season is in free fall already and there's worse to come. Hell of a result for City on the road.

In case anyone is wondering, 29 rounds per season currently, further expansion will see increased rounds clearly.

We had a week off last weekend, not entirely sure why.

Round 5

Perth Glory 1 - 3 Western United - United got their first win of the season, Perth looking out played by about everyone at the moment.

Newcastle 1 - 2 Central Coast - The Mariners bounce back from last week's thrashing by the Phoenix to record their first win of the season, can it get any worse for the Jets ... don't answer that one.

Brisbane Roar 2 - 3 Adelaide United - The Roar dominated the first quarter but United had all the answers as it turned out winning a heart breaker away from home.

Sydney FC 4 - 2 Western Sydney Wanderers - No lack of goals this weekend, with this game going to script. Good win for Sydney who are building a very decent season.

Wellington Phoenix 1 - 0 Melbourne Victory - In a close one the Phoenix take the points and are currently top of the table, pending on Auckland's result

Macarthur 0 - 1 Auckland FC - Auckland probably not happy with that performance, but still haven't conceded a goal this season and make it four on the trot to hit the top of the table.

Auckland FC on a perfect 12 points, following by the Phoenix, Melbourne Victory, and Adelaide United all on 10 points. Bit of a log jam after that till we hit the bottom of the table and a couple of clubs doing it tough at the moment.

Round 6

Adelaide United 2 - 2 Perth Glory, United will be thinking they dropped a couple of points here. Still some relief for Glory fans.

Auckland FC 2 - 0 Newcastle Jets, Auckland left it late but got the same result. AFC 5 from 5 still to concede a goal.

Melbourne City 0 - 2 Western Sydney Wanderers, Win on the road for the Wanderers, no one cares Bro.

Macarthur 4 - 4 Brisbane Roar, Hold onto your bums that was a high scoring affair, the Roar will be kicking themselves for dropping a couple of points here.

Western United vs Melbourne Victory, guess its a local derby, United missing a couple of things - fans and big backing. How on earth this club is still in existence remains a mystery.

Phenomenal effort from Auckland so far. Having the next game at home could see this extended.

We have been pretenders in this league for so long that I never thought I would see something like this.

Can't put it down to playing the easier teams either, some notable scalps already for Auckland. Was watching their goal keeper, hope they have him on a water tight contract, amazing reflexes.

The owner of Auckland also owns Bournemouth.

He bought Paulsen from the Phoenix to Bournemouth who immediately loaned him back to Auckland.

What kinds of crowds are they getting at these games?

Also, did I read that crowd trouble is a bit of an issue at some clubs?

Like most sports, weather dependant.

Auckland hosting Phoenix this weekend is sold out and tickets are $450 in the resale marketplace.

Thanks. So definitely growing from what I remember a good few years ago - I guess pretty similar to the Scottish Premier league really, or English 3rd level

On the up, the standard has improved though I would imagine the Celtics and Wrexhams of the world would do very well in the league if not take the title each time. The winners playing in the Asian competition is helping standards as is the inclusion of Euro players.

On crowd violence, a few years ago they moved to stamp out "ethnic" clubs and actually took the licence off a couple of the worse offenders. Still the odd tiff going down, mainly in Melbourne (which let's face it is Glasgow lite for anyone North of the Vic border) but individual clubs are also taking a stand against any disruption, all part of the whole outing for the whole family thing.
