Wont it just go to Davison as the only other prop in the squad? Maybe a call up for Mako if Marlet is a doubt for the SA game.

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

I just don’t think Eddie will be that experimental against Aus/SA, he’ll stick to what he knows and that Smith/Steward will be the only inexperienced starters, something like: Marler George Sinckler Itoje Hill Lawes Underhill Curry Youngs Smith May Farrell Tuilagi Malins Steward Subs Blamire, Genge,...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

I know it probably didn’t alter the end result of the game as we were leaking penalties at this point but the George try should have been chalked off at the weekend. Farrell is clearing holding the ball only for a water boy to throw a new one to George who then takes a quick tap to score. https://i....

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Well I think a few players have put their hand up and should be looking at coming in for the AI’s, the team needs a freshen up (looking back at the six nations its striking how there just hasn’t seemed to be any evolution of the side in a few years). Think depth wise we’re probably looking at the fo...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Any thoughts on the USA game? Don’t know how much we can take from it with the injuries causing disruptions in the back line. In the pack I though Underhill/Genge showed up well (which you’d expect given their experience) although Genge seemed unnecessarily pumped which caused a few issues at scrum ...

England team for the USA game: 1) Genge 2) Langdon 3) Heyes 4) McNally 5) Ewels 6) Ludlow (c) 7) Underhill 8) Chick 9) Randall 10) Smith 11) Malins 12) Lawrence 13) Slade 14) Cokanasiga 15) Steward Subs: Blamire, Obano, Davison, Hill, Curry, Ludlam, Robson, Umaga. Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Is the new squad for the USA/Canada games being named today?

Wonder who will be dropping out, presume Smith/Dombrandt/Marchant will definitely be called up from Quins (maybe Lynagh too). From Exeter I think he’ll rest Slade and Nowell but Williams/J Simmonds/Devoto/O’Flaherty could be picked.

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

The England A game has been Calle doff due to further COVID cases in the Scotland squad

Feel for the players, some of them might never get the chance to wear an England jersey again after this.

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Underhill (concussion) and Dingwall (calf) are both injured as well from training so that’s 4 players broken so far in camp.

Like the look of that team, exciting back line and a balanced pack.

Wonder how much the team will change for the next 2 games?

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Like the look of that squad (certainly as a Falcons fan), plenty of players to come in from the top 4 but would like to see a team resembling the following for the Canada/USA games with a mix of experience and youth: Genge, Blamire, Heyes, Ewels, Wells, Hill, Underhill, Dombrandt Robson, Smith, Radw...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

George is 31 this year, LCD turns 28 this month, assuming 33 is about the time they give out, they have a few years left at Test level barring injury, and certainly enough to bring through a couple of replacements, who will present themselves in due course. Add in Tom Dunn, 29 this year, as a decen...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Has Simmonds become a radically better player than he was in 2018? He has 7 England caps, one good performance against Italy and I can’t remember much else apart from being outmuscled against France and Ireland in the 6 Nations. He’s a great player for the Exeter system but what is his role in the c...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

From Ben Cole’s on Twitter: “England 'A' - not the Saxons, for some reason - are back. Will face Scotland 'A' at Welford Road on June 27, before England face USA on July 4 and Canada on July 10 at Twickenham.” Excited to see some of the potential options that’ll get a chance to play. Just to specula...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Think Earl will start at 7 and Curry will move back to 6, don’t know how much that will change things (probably improves on our carrying but will lose some of the ruck work/no penalty count that Wilson brings). Ewels has never done much for England but Hill has been utterly braindead so far in his E...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Any predictions for the England team this weekend? What I think Eddie will do (not what I’d pick..):

Genge, George, Stuart, Itoje, Lawes, Curry, Wilson, Vunipola
Youngs, Ford, May, Farrell, Slade, Watson, Daly

Subs: LCD, Obano, Williams, Hill, Earl, Robson, Malins, Lawrence

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Launchbury and Marler out of the squad, Tom West and Ewels are in.

Expect Obano will be on the bench and then probably Hill to partner Itoje. He could put Lawes there but weakens the scrum a bit if he does that.

Cam Redpath apparently going to be named in the Scotland squad, but of a kicker as I thought he would be a good option at 12 for us in the future.

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

I see that the RFU have agreed to a 28 man squad for the 6 Nations (France have named a 37 man squad).

Don’t know how that will affect selection, at a guess I think Eddie will divide the squad like the following:

4 props
3 hookers
4 locks
5 backrow
2 SH
2 FH
3 centres
5 back three

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

Just a question for a Friday morning, who does everyone think are the best scrummaging props in the league? Exeter always seem powerful however they get a lot of help from their locks/loose forwards. Brookes has impressed me since the resumption for Wasps, Genge is always good value. Anyone else wor...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

I’m English and I don’t want to represent Boris, Cameron, Thatcher etc. Ffs  Great win for the Falcons, only 3 new signings in the starting 15 from the start of last season, everyone else was there when we got relegated. In that time we lost Green, J Williams, Harris, Dunbar, Nagusa, Sinoti, T...
