Re: The Official English Rugby Thread
Went along to this today, no skin in the game. Sarries played some nice stuff but could relax and have the freedom to do it. Quins defensive efforts were absolutely disgraceful for large parts of the "contest". Defensive line seemed to move up in reverse gear most of the time, and there we...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread
It's a starting point. Whether we got to it by accident or design doesn't matter, but what we've seen in the last two games has to be the path we continue to follow. As everyone says, have to continue to put more pieces of the puzzle in place and the bolder style of play needs to continue with selec...

Re: 6 Nations round 5 - France v England
Yep, Earl has carried this team at times and clearly been our best player by miles. Was a cruel end for his tournament. Thought Ford was fantastic tonight. Played flat at the line, kicked everything, was tactically really good to manage proceedings and shutdown the open/broken game that favoured Fra...

Re: 6 Nations round 5 - France v England
Gutted, ultimately came up short by the finest of margins. First half clang on for dear life, came out and found something to put ourselves in a great position in the 3rd quarter, think we punched ourselves out a bit though and the subs turned the tide a bit and France reasserted their power game fo...

Re: 6 Nations round 5 - France v England
Feels a bit like England emptied the gas tank making the comeback. Subs haven't really provided the extra impetus so far. France winning the physical battle easily again in the latter stages.

England trying but can't quite match up physically, and when the game breaks open too many left wading through treacle unfortunately.

Re: 6 Nations round 5 - Wales v Italy
Scoreline not really a reflection of the game. Italy performance patchy, but comfortable. Wales totally cack and you have to wonder if Gatland sticks around. Where else would he go? His tenure with the Chiefs was rubbish, Wales was a bit of a life line for him. Equally, who would come in? You'd hav...

This game would be at Italy's mercy if they just kept ticking along in disciplined fashion. Since butchering that conversion though they've done anything but.

Re: 6 Nations round 5 - France v England
Yeah, Daly and Tuilagi just feels underwhelming. I know much has been made of the change in intent, but for me a lot of the difference as the tournament has gone on is selection getting a better mix of the raw ingredients. We've managed to get a bit more in terms of big slabs of meat in the engine r...

Re: 6 Nations Round 4 - England V Ireland
Brilliant win. Game was a bit mad - England on the whole the more dominant, can't really put enough together though ultimately and Ireland stretch out into a lead, England then come back but then with a man advantage can't capitalise further, wilt a bit as the subs are made and Ireland get their nos...

Re: 6 Nations Round 4 - England V Ireland
For all of that bright start, as I said after the first quarter it was still littered with errors and poor discipline in really bad areas. Ultimately we haven't been clinical enough, haven't nailed down the early dominance, couldn't keep up the pace of play which led to the game-plan tightening up a...

Re: 6 Nations Round 4 - England V Ireland
Yeah I mean the pace, intensity, and urgency in our play is.... well, I'm a bit shellshocked to be honest. Who are these white shirts and what have they done with the England team? Still way too many errors and discipline stuff (often in prime areas) in this first quarter, and the defensive line loo...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread
Every game Borthwick remains is just accepting mediocrity. I don't care if the RFU can't afford to sack him (next on the block should be whoever decided to give him a 5 year deal straight up!). Bankruptcy is preferable to this gormless prat remaining. He coaches, and the team performs, like he playe...

That defending on Redpath was beyond amateur, how many was that trying to dive on the ball, getting taken out of the game, and creating a huge hole?

Re: 6 Nations Round 3 - Scotland v England
I'm sorry, but again a dreadful half. Both teams really, Scotland all over the place early on. Then England get in on the comedy act and present some tries back. England showing ambition to play, but ultimately writing cheques trying to do things and at a pace that the ability and skillsets can't ca...

Re: Six Nations Round 2: England vs. Wales
It was crap. Again. Very little cohesion or skill with the ball in hand, a tad more ambition but still hugely negative overall, little power, even less pace, and a lot of plodding about. I'm seeing very little, make that nothing, to suggest Scabbers should be in this job. Good guy but lets face it, ...

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread
I know this link comes around regularly, and don't know what any of our Sarries fans may have heard, but for months now the Wigan RL lot have been seriously rumouring that Farrell is "coming home". I'd say Cole, Marler, Vunipola, Youngs, Care, Tuilagi, Daly, May shouldn't be seen again (be...

Re: RWC SF2 England vs Springboks on 21/10 @ 21h00
Easy to say now with the benefit of hindsight, but I was actually thinking during the second half that we may as well have eg. put Chessum on for a falling apart Curry and have four second rows (if you still count Lawes as a potential one) out there. Biggest bodies possible behind the props to try a...

Re: RWC SF2 England vs Springboks on 21/10 @ 21h00
Obviously the respective benches and what started happening in the scrum was massive to the outcome, but England's performance didn't really last much after 50 mins or so. The accuracy of our play went in most facets, particularly our kicking, the game wasn't really being played in the right areas a...

Subs haven't helped, but England's performance has completely died across the park. Accuracy of everything has dropped off. The kicking is just causing us problems currently.
