Wish I could say it was a great tour but you lads made up for the mess by loving the game and not the drama
The Springboks vs British & Irish Lions 3rd Test Thread
Agreed, BIL all over us in that first half, could have won it right there.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:10 pm Congrats Saffers.
Lions needed to build that lead in the first half when they were on top. 4 points never felt like enough
Springboks, Stormers and WP supporter.
Lions pack got mullered in 2nd half, feckin hopeless. Sinkler and Vunipola can't scrummage. Wynn Jones shoved off a couple of scrums. AWJ is past it and Curry was abysmal. Too many penalties conceded by the pack in the last 20. Couldn't win ball or clean ball for Finn to do his magic. Can't understand why we end up with 7 English guys in the Lions pack when they got beaten up by Wales, Ireland and Scotland in the 6Ns? No ball then no win. Adams anonymous all game and Williams only caught 1 ball all night, squandered a try scoring overlap and attempted the weakest tackle all game to let Kolbe in to score. Slightly more entertaining game than last week.

Very emotional interview from AWJ there. Regardless of the result today and the series he’s been a phenomenal player over his career. He should hold his head high and be massively proud of what he has achieved.
Win ugly or lose pretty; seems to be our curse.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:08 pm Oh what a shitty win. I'll take it but that was ugly. Hard luck Lions fans. Its been a forgettable series.
But, here's hoping we can build on this. Easier to build off a winning culture, and we are FAR from a polished product.
We have defense nailed now; our attack needs a work. A lot of work.
Ridiculous drive and determination to even make the tour after his injury. The guy is a legend.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:17 pm Very emotional interview from AWJ there. Lions win that if Liam Williams passes to Josh Adams.
To be fair to Wynn Jones he only got shoved back after injuring his back. Was dominant before then.dpedin wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:16 pm Lions pack got mullered in 2nd half, feckin hopeless. There are very few players in the world I’d like to have seen playing for the All Blacks but he is one of them. He’s one of the toughest most uncompromising players you’ll ever see.Sandstorm wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:19 pmRidiculous drive and determination to even make the tour after his injury. Titan. Even with our locks, I'd have him in the Bok team in a heartbeat if we could.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:17 pm Very emotional interview from AWJ there. He really deserved a Lions series win to crown off his career. Amazing player.
(but glad he didn't get it our expense)

Well done Boks. Deserved the win for better decision making, on and off the field

JMK will say it's confirmation bias, but yet again Lawes in the 6 shirt was a totally shit idea.
Can’t understand why that back row got three goes at it when you’ve got Beirne, Watson and Faletau in the squad.Hal Jordan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:37 pm JMK will say it's confirmation bias, but yet again Lawes in the 6 shirt was a totally shit idea.

I’d struggle to point at anything he did badly. Then again I’d struggle to point at anything he did that changed the game. He was there. He did his job.Hal Jordan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:37 pm JMK will say it's confirmation bias, but yet again Lawes in the 6 shirt was a totally shit idea.

Boks proving why they are World Champions.
Murray was a disgrace. Acts like a child. Screaming at every ruck, always trying to argue with the referee. Even at the end

Didn’t see that. I actually thought he was faster from the ruck delivery than I’ve seen from him in recent years.Lemoentjie wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:39 pm Boks proving why they are World Champions.

Well that was a pile of shite.
I hope Gatland finds a new hobby. He's jumped the shark for the Lions.
The Lions format has to have some effort to play 'entertaining' rugby in the future. Not full BaaBaas but it does need some ambition to actually play. Without an injury to Biggar, Russell might have got the last 15 minutes if he was lucky. With ball in hand for Russell the Lions came alive but he never got the ball in the second half.
The future of the Lions has to be built around a squad of players that can run and pass along with the instincts to do just that. The coach needs to British or Irish as well with a similarly positive view of how to play the game.
I'd rather see the Lions lose 3-0 trying to play great rugby than go through that utter rot again.

Am I correct in saying all the Boks’ tries were scored by backs, and all the Lions’ tries were scored by forwards from mauls?
The Bok defensive structure really is a tough nut to crack. Hope we get to see NZ, Australia and the Pumas have a go at it to see if it holds up.

I was thinking about that too. How does he not pass that?
Townsend is far more conservative than people like to think to be fair.

I think South Africa are killing rugby to be honest. Dreadful to watch and awful to play.
No class off the pitch either.
It was a walk in for Adams, schoolboy error from Williams who was rank awful today. TBF he has been pretty awful whole Tour and by playing him the Lions gained nothing over Hogg but lost an attacking and kicking threat instead. Should never have been selected.

He actually played quite well apart from the two mistakes which err probably lost the game.dpedin wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 6:55 pmIt was a walk in for Adams, schoolboy error from Williams who was rank awful today. He caught his high balls and brought a good intensity.
I have more sympathy for LCD who made the hard yards to get back and try and cover than for a FB who should make that tackle 10 times out of 10!
