For those that like this sort of thing Knocked Loose dropped a super gnarly metallic hardcore EP out of nowhere last week. Creepy stop motion animation to go with it too.
I think Contorted In The Faille might be my favourite track, it's just pure rage even by the standards of the genre.

They'll be re-filling the glass soon, put out a new single the other week featuring Chelsea Wolfe. Precedes a whole collaboration album with her.Dismal Pillock wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 2:02 am ^^^^^that reminds me its been 4 years between drinks now for what I think of as the tip of the spear for that genre....
I'm by no means a Converge completist, so there could be better reference points, but it reminded me of Phoenix In Flight from Jane Doe..
Given how some genres spark and then alI but disappear, I find it quite refreshing how a lot of hardcore bands don't really update all that much. With the right amount of ferocity and commitment you can still make a well-trodden path exciting and vital.Dismal Pillock wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 2:09 am ps Knocked Loose there sound a lot like AFTERSHOCK from the 90's:

Oh wow. Is she famous? Would be mental if the band had a "hit" song after 25 years. Still, they'd deserve it, not many get better and better like they have, especially in the style they playsockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 9:27 amThey'll be re-filling the glass soon, put out a new single the other week featuring Chelsea Wolfe. Nothing in the discogs database for any of it yet.

Few manage the longevity to develop, that alone is something of achievement. To keep producing quality music throughout is almost unicorn territory. Every Time I Die are similar, dropped a quality new album this week and been plugging away in the hardcore scene since the late 90s.Dismal Pillock wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 10:14 amOh wow. I'd not heard of Chelsea 'til this collaboration, but then we all move around in our own musical silos.
Looking at her Spotify streams, in so far as that can be used as a gauge, it seems like she's doing well and probably has a significant following, but not the type of artist who's big enough to bleed out of their sphere of influence.
Album's due in mid-November iirc.

damn, wholesale for the vinyl not till June 2022
https://www.deathwishdirect.com/newrele ... bloodmoon/
havent done a wholesale order with Deathwish before but it is tempting...
ps it is completely hopeless trying to do any orders right now. Places are about 90% out of stock thanks to Brexit/Rona/completely rogered distribution channels/that fat fuckhead tanker that got its big fat barge arse stuck for bloody weeks in the Suez Canal

Yeah, I've noticed that whatever confluence of factors has completely fucked vinyl fulfilment for the foreseeable.
Deathwish have a great catalogue, big fan of Birds In A Row and Bossk in particular.
You' responding to me has been a reminder that there's been some pretty good hardcore releases in recent weeks.
And with Halloween less than a week away a new album from Ice Nine Kills with their horror movie -based songs who can go from this
to this
I'm not generally a fan of gimmicky, novelty stuff, but I have a lot of time for them.

man some of that super frenetic stuff makes me feel old these days. maybe sounds too polished for my old doom/sludge arse too
although according to discogs comments the vinyl pressings for Bossk have some horrendous issues
wow had no idea about this band. thankx! usually I just skip past the name in the catalogues en route to fapping it to Botch. Who also are too hectic for my old arse these days

To my absolute delight Stand Atlantic's new single is very punky after their last one had strong trap(? not an electronic music expert) elements and a rapper feature.

Wow, it's been a long wait for new music from The Wrens. I listened to their Secaucus album a lot when I was doing A-Levels in the late 90s.Big Nipper wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 11:38 am Kevin Whelan from The Wrens is releasing a new album under the name Aeon Stations on 12 December

New band playing classic emo.
New band playing classic post-hardcore.
Not really a fan of Poppy, but this collaboration with HEALTH is actually really good.

I don't know how much anyone on here will care, but Every Time I Die have just announced they're going through a non-amicable split with their vocalist. When their upcoming UK tour was cancelled last week I just assumed it was covid shit like Comeback Kid who I was due to see at the end of the month. Alas.
Bands in the decidedly non-commercial scenes I listen to break up all the time, but this one really sucks. I've been listening to them for just shy of 20 years, seen them live a bunch and met the band a couple of times. They weren't the only band to weld southern rock elements onto hardcore, but they were one of the first and one of the few to stick with that sound while managing to carve out a viable career.
In tribute here's a song from the 2003 album that introduced me to them and a cracker from the album they released last year.

I've been playing these guys a bit this week... they're a 'Siberian' band from the minority Chulym tribe, one of the Tartar groups. They use traditional instruments, throat singing and draw on their nativist shaman type backgrounds. Quite spectacular ahh, viewing

Nice bump. I'm the same, completely missed Hum in the 90s
A few things for the thread. Not necessarily new. Enjoyed this track at the time.
Turnstile were fairly hard to miss last year, but definitely enjoyed the album.
Some classic Polly.
And some classic Nirvana.

Yeah, they're both decent. Definitely the pick of theirs from what I've heard.

I'd have their most recent full length Panorama (unfortunately released just as the pandemic really began, so it seems to have flown under the radar a bit) up there with those records, but, yeah, the middle of their discography isn't as consistently strong.

Mmmmmm......this reminds me of Radio Control in Palmy North.
My 'go to' tune when I am remembering my younger years.
I can smell the stale beer at the Fitz and the slightly moudly carpet of my flat in Morris Street.....sigh......good times.

Love that tune - Dunedin sound is feckin timeless. Binged on Flying Nun over the weekend - The Clean, The Chills, The Verlaines, The Bats, JPS, Dead C.....led to some of the newer stuff like Headless Chickens, Dance Exponents, Hello Sailor, Th' Dudes and DD Smash etc etc.
Too many drunken sing-a-longs with this one.
Perfection
Loved Brazier's voice.
Dave Dobbyn is iconic.
My mates and I snuck into a Hello Sailor gig at a local pub when we were still at school. Got the oldest looking one of us to get the rounds at the bar - the rest of us loitered at the back trying to look as invisible as possible. Didn't help that just as the music finished and we started to leave we bumped into a group of our teachers! Thankfully they were even more pissed than we were and nothing was ever said.

Similar story.....blagged our way in to a bar that had a live band on. Well chuffed with ourselves - until we realized that the band playing was Satellite Spies. Evening went downhill very quickly as the girl I was crushing on ended up pulling the bass player and one of my mates got sparked out by some rando.Gumboot wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 2:12 am My mates and I snuck into a Hello Sailor gig at a local pub when we were still at school.
