These are supposedly coming out in NZ next month. The government has signalled you will need one to attend festivals and large event in the Summer but who knows if that is going to happen.

Yup got mine too, was quick and easy. apart from me trying to figure out the handwriting on the card for the vaccination code. That person have the handwriting of a doctor

I am very tempted to get a ticket for the bafana game if it is open, even though i find SA soccer games in general a but unbearable to watch related to playing style and skill. But it would be so damn good to be in a sports crowd again.

I'm most looking forward to the cricket at the wanderers sitting on the bank under the Oaks. Right in front of the beer stand.

19,348,079 vaccine doses administered for COVID-19 in South Africa, currently at rate of about 1.33/second or 115,022 each day. That is about 32.2 doses per hundred people (~60.04 million). At this rate, South Africa could have 70% of people vaccinated (2 doses) in 563 days (or by Apr 29, 2023).

Whether they'll be successful is another matter with an over religious population refusing to take vaccination and eschewing precautions in favour of religious gatherings is another matter.

This new variant has most likely been in the wild for some time now. There's a good chance its already in Europe and the USA. Still loads of international flights leaving Joburg and Cape Town many of them to Doha and Dubai. Those hubs will distribute it around the world.

The South African government doesn't have the means or the will to contain anything at this point. We're in economic damage control mode.

My mate got one in Fish Hoek on Monday. Walked 6ft from his shop entrance to the bin on a lamppost to chuck away his empty coffee cup. Busted.

Went to magistrates who reluctantly reduced it to R500 yesterday
