Hey, just out of interest, what's the comparison like between major SA cities and London when it comes to knife crime? I can only find basic murder rates, where Joburg is in the top 50 worldwide, and London, well, isn't. London averages between 100 and 150 murders per year. Joburg? About 2000. Wonderful Cape Town? Well, that's 8th on the list, and averages 3000 a year.
But I'm sure London is bad in comparison when it comes to knife crime.
Well, reasonably sure.
I've lived in both cities and you can't even compare the two. This is not an argument South Africa can win.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 12:13 pm If you're a fellow 13 year old gang member, maybe - and I don't think anyone in London would mention it as a defence

See, we even beat you on crime stats. We have real criminals though and can handle it. Look boet, we can go in circles all day long with rape and murder stats. The facts are that your bean counters at HQ are licking their chops as we speak for the SA TV revenue. What you or ten other poms think does not matter, what matters is the $.
No need to get personal. If you're going to argue for South Africa's inclusion in the Six Nations, do it properly.average joe wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:00 pm Who needs enemies with friends like you? Mind you, the RFU would be licking their lips over the proceeds from a lemonade stall at the moment - which would probably be better managed financially speaking
There will never be a 6N with South Africa in it or even a 7N. It’s just stupid to even debate it.
If SA do look to another Test Championship beyond the existing SH series, it’ll be if the N Americans ever get their shit together. That’s where the real money is.

Baseball. It's more than just a sport, it's an inherent part of the culture, across all states, unlike the others.average joe wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:39 pmWhat did I miss, Golf?Biffer wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:37 pmGiven you've missed the most popular US sport off the list, it's another demonstration of your understanding of sports markets.average joe wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:35 pm

Look boet, I know I'm just a dumb farmer from SA. I don't know a lot about sports in North America but I do know gridiron and basketball is the two biggest sports in the US and Ice hockey is the number one sport in Canada. Canada has been playing rugby for how long now? Rugby is going nowhere slowly over there.

Yanks only like baseball because they can stuff their fat faces with corn dogs and bud light. No one actually cares about watching the game because it's worse than watching paint dry.
Can you point to any non baseball team that sells more than 3,000,000 home tickets a year? Baseball has 5 teams that do that. Baseball leads the way in the US. You might hear more about NFL and Basketball, but that's because they are more internationalised - Baseball is bigger in the USA. Look at the contracts offered to sportsmen - in the top 20 in the US, 2 are NFL contracts, 1 is basketball and 16 are baseball. Every kid has a glove - they don't all have footballs or basketballs. Every tiny little town has a diamond; you can see them everywhere as you fly across the USA - you don't see other sports pitches to the same extent.average joe wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:55 pm Look boet, I know I'm just a dumb farmer from SA. Do they play a lot of games in baseball? I thought that a football team like River Plate or Real Madrid would be the best-supported, maybe even Man U, their grounds are almost twice the size of Yankee stadium

The Major League Baseball (MLB) season schedule generally consists of 162 games for each of the 30 teams in the American League (AL) and National League (NL), played over approximately six months—a total of 2,430 games, plus the postseason.
Yeah, the point being that a team can have that many games, and STILL sell tens of thousands of tickets to every game, six days a week. I doubt another sport anywhere could do that. Boston's average attendance is 36,106 in a stadium that holds 37,755. For 81 games a year.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 2:35 pm

It adds to the evidence that you have no fucking clue what you're talking about. No understanding of what makes the 6Ns the most successful rugby tournament in the world. Pretty typical of SH rugby, who have a record of creating shit tournaments, and taking what is decent, mincing it up and shitting it into the gutter. You're not going to do that to Six Nations.average joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 6:25 amSo baseballs big in the US. That's grand, add it to the list along with Nascar, soccer and bowls. South Africa is a Rugby powerhouse. The Springboks are 3 times world champions. They're a top team and a recognizable brand. SA entering the 6N will liven it up and make it more competitive. It will open up untapped markets and make it a more prestigious competition.
