I don't think anyone is suggesting that the self-aggrandising stuff is actually true, just that it's what he's really like.
No, I get that. But the issue over whether it's a wind up or not hinges upon whether he believes the stuff or not? And since much of it is easy to disprove, that leaves troll or unhinged?

{EDIT} The only posters I know who met him were Calendar Blue and Fat Albert (I think: he is the one who's the global warming conspiracy theory believer?) and I lost contact with CB after she left FAAM, so can't get a steer there.

Largely because it has annoyed people quite a bit in the past when globus would try and make every thread about him and his bafflingly mundane experiences or his connections to far more interesting people than him. The tsunami thread springs to mind.

I don't think he does it here so whatever (probably because he's not been well enough to post much)

But of course entropy will claim us all in the end so indeed, what does it matter

Hence my comment about if it becomes spam, action will be taken.

Glad to know it ASMO. You've always been a "good egg" as far as I'm concerned.

I post, like you, as I find. Not overly bothered if it's taken seriously or not.

Enough on my plate as it is at the moment.

That's the problem with the net. It tends to present exaggerated versions of our worst aspects. I've met plenty of posters over 20 odd years and really only one of them transpired to be as big a ***t as you'd anticipate (no mirror jokes please).

One of these days, I'm going to take the short trundle up the A45 to Globby's just to see for myself.

You'd be very welcome Torq. Be good to show you around the Town.. I'm very chary about other aspects of my life though. Others to protect.

I don't really want to join the ranks of the "great and the good" who have left here and the "other place" but if neccessary, I'll vote with my feet.

I'm in the middle of preparing a music intro quiz. Just like the one that a late poster did successfully.

Couldn't get him to reprise it and it was lost in one of the great obliterations along with "the Wookie in "Master and Commander". That had me in tears!
