Probably similar footage, where he shoots one or two others, and starts firing about in general? In that footage, near the start of what I saw, you clearly hear someone saying he's killed someone, which would make sense, since he walks towards the police afterwards, and despite being told to stop advancing (according to what I've read), somehow fails to be shot, despite being heavily armed and disobeying orders.

You were looking for an explanation as to why the crowd were following him. They felt he had committed murder. The police seem to agree with the crowd enough that they have charged him with murder. Now, it may turn out that his actions were justified, and a court can decide that, but on first reading of the facts it does appear that the crowd were, at the very least, not acting unreasonably in trying to disarm him.

So apparently (according to the NYT), the kid didnt fire the first shots.

He was chased into a car park, shots were fired (by someone else, not sure who) and he then turns around and shoots one of the guys chasing him.

No idea why they were chasing him to begin with but theres no way this holds up in court as murder.

It's pretty grim stuff. He shot a guy in the head....stood over the body while other people administered first aid and then ran away. As he's running away people can be heard "he shot a guy! Don't let him get away..." and when he's confronted, he shot two other people.

The kid took a gun that wasn't his across state lines so he could join in on some Call of Duty larping.
