Marti pellow and his mates shouldn’t be on this list. Texas were early 90s right?

Although certainly not mainstream, Paul Haig was by far and above my favourite artist of the mid to late 80s.

Pretty much one-hit wonders, The Big Dish. 'Miss America' was 1991 but this was a minor hit in the 80s
Oh, and forgot about Danny WIlson

It is. Bit I can’t remember why! A memory of someone playing a load of their stuff one night many years ago

No mention of Ultravox yet?
And for me there's a second golden age around the emergnnce of Mogwai and Arab Strap. Man, I love Arab Strap. Bob Dylan's not fit to lick Aidan Moffat's boots as a lyricist. Should get a Nobel prize for The Holiday Girl alone, then another one for The First Big Weekend and a bonus one for Daughters of Darkness.

An outrage no-one has mention this lot yet
And then Moffat should get another one for all of As Days Get Dark.clydecloggie wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 2:17 pm No mention of Ultravox yet?

Saw them at Leith Theatre last year, fucking tremendous.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Gonna be in the small minority here but I think the Blue Nile were overrated. Every other band suggested yip all over them.
If you don't listen already, give Grant Stott's vinyl collective a spin on Radio Scotland on BBC sounds, great show with a regular Scottish twist.

Maybe a minority but you're not alone. I've never understood the love for Tinseltown in the Rain, it's miserable pish.
Hipsway, Love and Money, Primal Scream and the Jesus and Mary Chain are some of my all time favourites, but interested that no-one's mentioned the Eurythmics or Bronski Beat yet
