Yeah, and that kind of just happens anyway without us trying.clydecloggie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 11:40 am As I said in the Scottish thread, I can't wait or this to start but have no hope, you guys are kryptonite to how Scotland play.
Maybe it would be easier if the spite was easy to conjure but it's tough to pretend to be spiteful against the country that gave us the Kgalagadi, Drakensberg, Mandela, Etzebeth, Kolisi, Van Der Merwe, Schoeman, Nel, Steyn and gave proper born Scot Huw Jones a good education.
All it would leave is to make fun of your general lack of intellect but that's a protected characteristic these days and I'm a law-abiding citizen.

Love this optimism! Could be a cracker if Scotland can front up for the full 80…but there’s a lot of evidence that this is a near impossible ask given the power of that SA team. Unfortunately you cannae change the laws of physics.
The 23 looks like what Rassie/Nienaber think is first choice at the moment. It's a strong side.
On the bench this is interesting: Duane Vermeulen/Grant Williams/Willie le Roux. Many would've guessed Vermeulen and Le Roux would be starting, and Williams would be 4th choice scrumhalf (he's fast as URC watchers know, but not many were picking him for the bench). Indicates they want some power coming off the bench at the end of the match and not just in the tight five.

A good mate of mine has just been called and asked if he can leave tomorrow morning for an all expenses trip to Marseille for the weekend to watch the England v Argentina and Scotland v SA games by a client FFS
The only thing stopping me from meltdown is that it’s an English client and he has been asked for his shirt size as they are all being provided with England tops

I'd whore myself out for that, I'd even change my profile pic to me wearing it if necessary.Slick wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 8:43 pm A good mate of mine has just been called and asked if he can leave tomorrow morning for an all expenses trip to Marseille for the weekend to watch the England v Argentina and Scotland v SA games by a client FFS

I do hope the 12/13 is not a typo and just fuckery
A bit surprised to see Price instead of Horne and a bit surprised to see Radpath ahead of Harris for this particular game.
But that’s pretty much our best 23 players so not much to comment on really

The replacements from last test look like a Springbok down grading.

Scots, passop, it hurts the eye so bad. Apparently the team likes it. Go Listerines!

Interesting articles in Rapport about the Saffers in Scotland's team parents connection to their kids chicken run. Pierre Schoeman and RG Snyman was team mates at Affies.

Finn is going to be a marked man today and I expect him to be clobbered more than a few times. I suspect Scotland might try and change focus of attack and use Tups to spark a lot of back moves instead. It is going to be tough and it all depends on how our set piece goes, we need parity in scrum and line out and a big whiff of luck to win.
There are no Saffers in the Scotland team. When someone declares for us, we clasp them to our collective bosum as we would a native born Scot. From wherever they hail, we welcome them, and they become one of us.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 7:38 am Interesting articles in Rapport about the Saffers in Scotland's team parents connection to their kids chicken run. Dave Hilton is the only one I have a problem with, mainly due to the fact that he wasn't Scottish-qualified, even though he genuinely thought he was, and found out after forty caps - a classic of the genre.
addendum, he eventually became SQ on residency grounds.

Yeah, alright, I’ll withdraw Parks. Useless fucker

Can Scotland get anything out of the game this afternoon?
It's all about the penalty count, imo. If we can stand our ground and not ship penalties due to pressure, compounding more pressure on ourselves, then I think we have the backline to do damage to any team. We need to be squeaky clean and get on the good side of Angus Gardner - in recent games that has seen us compete far less at the breakdown, it will be interesting to see what we do today, Ritchie and Darge have strong instincts to go after any ball on the ground and in some way coaching them against this is clipping their wings somewhat.
This could of course be immaterial and the Orcs in Green could well just blow us off the park from the first whistle - we've been starting very slowly - but if we do manage to stand up to them a game of rugby could well break out, I really admire the SA backline. it would be great to see us trading blows with running skills.
That fucking pack, though...

Absolutely. Can you play at lock?
