Gardner is not a good ref and has made mistakes but his early penalties v Argentina in the maul were right.

The ones in the lead up to the mauls were wrong - hands on the deck at the ruck and then no contact in the air at the lineout - when you get a maul going it's very difficult to not get penalties in your favour and the mauls were as a result of dodgy decisions

Don't recall the one before the line out but the one for contact in the air is a penalty. He jumped/was lifted across the line and does make contact body to body. Every ref would give that.

There is an inevitability about the second half, the ABs in this mood are ruthless for a good 15-20 minute period, it's going to take a monumental effort from Argentina to stop them, even just to maintain the deficit.

The Pumas couldn't handle the pressure, hinged and all the ABs ended on the deck. Easy penalty to give.

Admittedly two tries straight after the post, but doing better than the Aussie commentators who have decided the last try was the death blow, would have thought the try prior to the half was that.

No, the bit I disagreed with is "every ref gives that".

There has been contact at just about every contested lineout in this game and all through the World Cup. It's usually given for hand on hand on the catchers, of which there was none in that case.
