Thought Mitchell might have just been held up there, but great composure to keep hold of the ball and groun it while being twisted every which way.

Munster fans are a touch hysterical.
I'm really not sure about that red.
Irish commentator tying himself in knots -unintentional but justified as he might miss an international csp. Righty-ho

There's absolutely nothing in this. Absurd it's even being looked at.
Edit - red card is an absurd outcome for this.

Expect that red will be redacted, but doesnt help Northants.
15 against 15 they've looked by far the better team, even if munster defended well.

I cannot see how that can be upheld. It's a red if intentional or reckless, it eas clearly not intentional and entering a ruck isn't reckless.

Alan quinlan- what was reckless? Just saying it doesn't make it true.
Did you guys not watch the replays or something? The first head-knee contact was complete accident, rugby incident, play on etc
The 2nd one though is very dodge - can't see how that is a natural movement to help you win a ruck. Absolutely deserved red.

I actually think that is more of a red than the Bristol one last night. 2nd impact is reckless imo and I'd be surprised if it was overturned. We'll see what happens when it's reviewed though.

It honestly looked a bit dodgy to me, but we never saw it in real time and that's a killer. DOC is extremely happy to support refs giving red cards for recklessness if it happens to favour Irish sides, he's laying it on extremely thick on comms, but not as bad as Mark Robson who should've been forcibly retired a long time ago. Between these guys and the Ferris/Bowe comedy act in the Quins game, it's a very bad return to the days of Sky commentary efforts

Saw the replays plenty. In real time it just looks like a guy continuing to try push into and against the ruck. In super slow mo it looks a bit odd, but you can see Langdon's not even looking at the bloke.PornDog wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:34 pm Did you guys not watch the replays or something? Only one person can answer that. It doesn't look like a natural movement and is completely unessecary, which means it's at least reckless.inactionman wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:35 pmAre you saying it was deliberate?PornDog wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:34 pm Did you guys not watch the replays or something? Yeah, I'm not a massive fan of Munster but that second hit was him putting his knee in deliberately.PornDog wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:34 pm Did you guys not watch the replays or something? The first head-knee contact was complete accident, rugby incident, play on etc

Quite. He extended his leg to continue pushing. Doubt he knew his head was there.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:37 pmSaw the replays plenty. Not for the ref to determine that. Panel can make the call on that but if players are not punished for kneeing players in the head (twice) on the basis that it's an accident then the accidents will keep happening.inactionman wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:35 pmAre you saying it was deliberate?PornDog wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:34 pm Did you guys not watch the replays or something? Then I hope this red card stops the spate of knees to head that we have not seen at all..Uncle fester wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:42 pmNot for the ref to determine that. This referee has no idea what's going on. Lawes tugs away at the ball repeatedly, no decision made. Saints apparently strip the ball in contact and it goes backwards, knock on against Saints. Extremely strange handling of the breakdown all day.

I will repeat my request that they stop replaying videos on the big screen for the ref.
If the ref needs to see something, they jog over to the sideline & there's a monitor there where they can see the replays without the histrionics from the crowd. It doesn't help the process, it just makes it harder for the ref.

That makes absolutely no sense.
It's a good question. Difficult to answer. Certainly more difficult than the question of why Irish sides have so many players who inspire attempts to hit them in the face, anyway.Uncle fester wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:50 pmKnee to head today (twice).inactionman wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:44 pmThen I hope this red card stops the spate of knees to head that we have not seen at all..Uncle fester wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:42 pm

Magnificent drop goal and a very sensible option. Good to know that's in the pocket, might need to do it again a couple of time.

Dodgy turnover decision there - no clear release followed by hands on the floor and nowhere near the ball.
And then the penalty kick that follows times out well before he kicks it.

What's the point of a shot clock if it's ignored?
