Wellington really missing its All Black players. Those first few rounds of the Mitre 10 Cup, when the AB's were available, will look very different from the remainder of the comp.
Wellington forwards are being completely dumb as per usual, especially at lineout time, and simply lazy at the breakdown (Kirifi excepted), Blackwell has reverted to type, but their biggest anchor is at halfback where Parapara won't communicate with anyone and has the slowest, most telegraphed pass in Christendom. No surprise that the Wellington front row are getting their heads muddled up with their sphincters, they are very young after all, but what have we done to fill the gap (nothing at fucking all is the correct answer).
In other words, the Lions are very fortunate to hole a slim lead at the break. Aren't Aso, PUJ, Goosen and Proctor all class. Without those guys, we'd be mincemeat.
BOP have a decent, but not exceptional, set piece. Their halfback is obviously the best of the halves on the filed, but since the first 15 has been a trad too quiet. They had the benefit of Mr Pickerell's doubt and a little more besides.

Wellington forwards are now achieving parity with the BOP pack, and that's allowing the Wellington backs to stamp their class on the match.

Du Pleesis Kirifi playing very well. We really are blessed with 7's when players like him and Boshier can't even make into the 35 player AB squad. Both players are test standard.
Yep, you can't help but feel a bit sorry for them, or the likes of Jordan Taufua.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 8:12 am Du Pleesis Kirifi playing very well. Kane Hames is the best emerging Rugby commentator in NZ. Put him on Sky's Super Rugby and All Black comments teams.

Ted!!
Yep, he's excellent. Think he's a qualified ref as well, so he knows his way around the law book.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 2:33 am Kane Hames is the best emerging Rugby commentator in NZ. Put him on Sky's Super Rugby and All Black comments teams.

Southland have had lots of attacking opportunities but have lacked accuracy at crucial moments. Could easily be leading this match but instead trail North Harbour 0-7.
Yeah, they just keep fluffing their chances, a bit like Waikato in the first half against Tasman.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 5:16 am Southland have had lots of attacking opportunities but have lacked accuracy at crucial moments. This game is not great viewing so far.
