Hmm cyber attack seems more the Russian style. Given their track record an arson attempt would have ended in self-immolation

I should really have said 'funded by Russians and executed by local freelancers' - they've definitely a history of that.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 10:18 am Hmm cyber attack seems more the Russian style. Given their track record an arson attempt would have ended in self-immolation

A day after a suspected Russian agent was arrested

Russian chef arrested in Paris over alleged ‘large scale’ Olympic Games plotFrench train network hit by 'malicious' arson attacks hours before Olympics ceremony, rail firm says
A series of fires has hit French high-speed rail lines, hours before the Paris Olympics opening ceremony
Rail company SNCF says it's a "massive attack aimed at paralysing the network"; France's transport minister condemns the "co-ordinated malicious acts"
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/artic ... paris-2024
A Russian chef who has lived in France for 14 years has been arrested on suspicion of plotting with a foreign power to stage “large scale” acts of “destabilisation” during the Olympic Games in Paris.
The 40-year-old man was arrested during a raid of his apartment in central Paris on Sunday where a document linked to an elite Russian special forces unit operating under the command of the FSB, an heir to the KGB, was reportedly found.
Always suspected they were dodgy!

If Putin doesn't want western weapons in Ukrainian hands pounding Russian territory, he's got a funny way of showing it.

Can we not just get rid of this opening ceremony nonsense. It’s as if everyone has given up since Danny Boyle set the bar so high in 2012 !
Contemplating it until the horse came on, quite like that
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
I think they're making a statement by saying,"we are the most up our own arses pretentious cvnts in the world so fuck you."
It's an unusual move.
It's an unusual move.
“It was a pet, not an animal. It had a name, you don't eat things with names, this is horrific!”
For the first 30 seconds. 10 minutes later you were over it.
On the menu in the athletes village tomorrow (the real one not the metal one)..
I always enjoy watching talented people doing talented things. But this has been a complete shambles. Horse down the river could have looked great but was so badly done. Can't they do a couple of speeches, sing a song or two, light the fire and then just get on with the sport? Rather than splurging millions on an incoherent mess?
Kiwis, how strong of a rowing culture does NZ have? I get the impression that it is second only to rugby in terms of its tradition in NZ sporting circles.
I was actually going to pose this question a while back but given it's the Olympics I suppose it's as good a time as any.
Tx.
