Scotland vs Springboks
I think Scotland are better than you're all letting on.
Fiji is one of those tricky sides where wins against them can always feel unsatisfying.
The Boks have lost two games this year, and I'm sure Townsend will be taking a lot from them.
Be within touching distance at halftime and diffuse the subs when they come on. Disrupt our 9 and 10. Compete at the lineout.

We weren't really playing Fiji, we were playing the Drua. None of their internationals playing in England or France were released.assfly wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:56 pm I think Scotland are better than you're all letting on.

Russell is going to run rings around our defense. WP Nel knows well.

I can't remember Russell having a blinder against the Boks. He's overdue. Cnut.
Darcy Graham out of this weekend's game against South Africa
The winger scored four tries in the win over Fiji, but failed a head injury assessment (HIA) after being replaced in the second half.
Head coach Gregor Townsend confirmed Graham has failed his subsequent HIA tests and will miss the visit of the world champions to Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
He said: “Darcy unfortunately failed his HI2 and his HI3, so he'll be ruled out for this weekend."
Missing the chance to face the world champions is another blow for Graham, who has missed most of the last 12 months with injury.

That's a pity. Is Rowe injured too? I'd be tempted to start Reed Iver Rowe anyway.westport wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 4:18 pm Darcy Graham out of this weekend's game against South Africa

He was good there against an understrength Fiji, and i wouldnt be flapping if he plays there again, but I'd rather best FB and next best winger, either of which are better on the wing than Jordan is at FB.Big D wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 7:41 pmKinghorn on wing and Jordan at FB?Jock42 wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 4:32 pmThat's a pity. I foresee little changes in the team that played against Fiji
I suspect Toonie will go for the following ( not the team that I would put out )
Forwards ; Pierre Schoeman, Ewan Ashman, Zander Fagerson, Grant Gilchrist, Scott Cummings, Matt Fagerson, Rory Darge, Jack Dempsey.
Backs Ben White , Finn Russell ,Duhan van der Merwe Sione Tuipulotu, Huw Jones, Kyle Rowe( if fit , Aaron Reed if not ), Blair Kinghorn
Subs - Dylan Richardson, Rory Sutherland, D’Arcy Rae, Max Williamson, Jamie Ritchie , Jamie Dobie, Tom Jordan, Stafford McDowall. If he goes with a 5/3 split , potentially he could go for a 6 /2 , a la Franco in which case McDowall drops out
Dobie & Jordan will not start, Toonie will not start Jordan in his 2nd cap against RSA. I think Brown will drop out of the subs either Ritchie , or possibly Muncaster replacing him.
Kinghorn was poor against Bayonne, hopefully that’s it out of his system
The soft underbelly is in the front 5 – Boks by 12

Rowe is apparently likely to be all right, mind.

So, checkers 60/60 kit, or do we have a new away kit?

I hope they get away from that kit. Though I doubt it will happen before the next WC, they seem to always continue with the WC away kits for the next 4 years. Hopefully they will go back to the White one before that, Right now I much rather they have a yellow kit similar to Banana Bafana as an away kit than that Checkers monstrosity.
Arguably Kinghorn's best position is wing. Now playing on wing plenty for Toulouse, particularly when they go full noise.Biffer wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 11:13 amExactly. Taht moving to cover bullshit is why we never saw what Mossy could really have become.
As it is Rowe has more of a chance of playing when I posted my suggestion so he should start if fit.

Look like we may see a bit of AE and Mapimpi in this test. The best Springbok plan would be to play conservative and strong defense in the first half and load the bom squad with gamebreakers like Ox, Marx, Koch, RG Snyman, Willie, Libbok, exc
Finishing with Libbok is a disasterOomStruisbaai wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2024 7:54 am Look like we may see a bit of AE and Mapimpi in this test. Rugby World Cup-winning lock Jean Kleyn will join the Springboks in Edinburgh on Friday as a replacement for Ruan Nortje, who suffered a leg injury at training on Wednesday, which ruled him out of the Castle Lager Outgoing Tour.
The 31-year-old Kleyn, who earned his seventh Test cap for the Springboks in the RWC final against New Zealand in France last year, returns to the national team for the first time this season after making a return to the Vodacom United Rugby Championship in September for Irish club Munster following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to an eye injury.
Nortje – who made a strong statement in the Boks’ engine room this season which saw him assist the team to the Castle Lager Rugby Championship title – hurt his leg during Wednesday’s field training session, and with only three Test matches on this tour, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus opted to draft Kleyn into the travelling squad.
Kleyn’s international experience with five Test matches to his name for Ireland and seven for the Springbok as well as a RWC title, adds valuable experience to the Bok lock stocks for the tour, where he joins the likes of RG Snyman, Franco Mostert and Eben Etzebeth.
“It’s sad to lose Ruan to injury, as he’s had a fantastic season and really made a strong statement after injuries initially prompted his call-up to the squad,” said Erasmus. “He certainly grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and we wish him luck with his recovery.”
Erasmus added: “Ruan’s injury opens the door for Jean to make a return to the national squad for the first time this season, and judging by his performances for Munster since making a comeback to the Vodacom URC combined with his familiarity of our structures and being a regular in our team last season, we are excited to welcome him back.
“He’s also played with most of the players in the squad and is familiar with the conditions in the UK as he’s based in Ireland, so he should slot in with ease.”
Erasmus will name his matchday team to face Scotland on Friday.
I'm not sure his best position is wing however, the way Scotland (and Toulouse) play, it does get him on the ball a lot so I can just about see the argument even if I don't agree with it.Big D wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 3:32 pmArguably Kinghorn's best position is wing. It is funny....SA are so far above the rest of the world right now (maybe hand in hand with Ireland) that the fact they aren't even talking about fielding 2nd string sides for experience is amusing.Biffer wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2024 12:36 pmYep.
