The US is far from alone from creating tax loopholes that are designed by the elites (or close relatives of elites ruling class) - something I was pretty close to was the German cum ex scandal which is worth a google as it’s not dissimilar (fairly sure most on here already have ‘German cum’ in their search history)
Am not disagreeing with you btw - my extremely limited involvement in that relatively little known scandal was what made me realise just how bent some chaps in power in the EU are (some of our clients were related kin of various ministers who set up and approved these loopholes . It’s also the main reason I’m no longer in that industry as I didn’t fancy jail - am fairly bitter yet relieved about it all as you can probably tell)

It would be a surprise if China stepped into the Usaid vacuum.
Much like Trump, China is purely focused on trade and commerce. They aren't going to step into health funding etc.
But the US is still reducing the influence the exerted via soft power while China are increasing there’s via trade, building infrastructure.
It’s a very young country with a very young population so who know how their perceptions might change.

A veteran House Democrat is introducing new legislation to respond to billionaire Trump ally Elon Musk's overhaul of the federal government: Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) on Wednesday rolled out the Eliminate Looting of Our Nation by Mitigating Unethical State Kleptocracy (ELON MUSK) Act, which would ban "special" government employees like Musk from having federal contracts.

The idea that the rich will plonk themselves down by the Terrorist Riviera is nonsense anyway. The best it would be is London-Next-The-Sea, haven of tax write offs and empty properties for money laundering activities.
It’s more an obsession with making people comment about the topic as if it’s doesn’t exist.
Like most running gags, I didn’t invent it , I would not have picked the ball up and run with it.
Could just as easily been grooming gang potting shed wanktoriums, illegal moped driving , bribing cousins to do your driving / citizen test …

This is 'hilarious', and the perfect example of why, even from a 'conservative America-first' point of view, a bunch of tech nerds shouldn't be allowed to run roughshod over complex systems looking for savings.

By this point they're just banking on completely overwhelming the courts so that they can't keep up with appeals against unlawful or unconstitutional acts and make as much as possible a fait accompli.
Hopefully that's not going to work

They're also banking on anything that is fought tooth and nail being dismissed by Trump's Supreme Court.
That court including three Trump appointee one of which was pushed through in the last few months of his presidency by the same Republican senators who insisted it was inappropriate for Obama to nominate someone nine months before the end of his presidency.

Donald Trump has signed an executive order that authorises aggressive economic sanctions against the international criminal court (ICC), accusing the body of “illegitimate and baseless actions” targeting the US and Israel.
The order grants the US president broad powers to impose asset freezes and travel bans against ICC staff and their family members if the US determines that they are involved in efforts to investigate or prosecute citizens of the US and certain allies.
The hostile action against the ICC comes in response to the court’s decision in November to issue arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
In the order, Trump said the ICC had “abused its power” by issuing the warrants which he claimed had “set a dangerous precedent” that endangered US citizens and its military personnel.
“This malign conduct in turn threatens to infringe upon the sovereignty of the United States and undermines the critical national security and foreign policy work of the United States government and our allies, including Israel,” he added.
Neither the US nor Israel are member states of the ICC, a permanent court of last resort for the prosecution of individuals accused of atrocities. In his order, Trump argued the court must “respect the decision” of countries “not to subject their personnel to the ICC’s jurisdiction”.
Israel’s prime minister strongly applauded Trump’s move. Netanyahu posted: “Thank you, President Trump, for your bold ICC executive order. It will defend America and Israel from the anti-American and antisemitic corrupt court that has no jurisdiction or basis to engage in lawfare against us.”
Trump said the US “will impose tangible and significant consequences on those responsible for the ICC’s transgressions” including by blocking property and assets and suspending entry into the US of ICC officials and their family members.

God, the sooner I can take pleasure in reading that pile of dogshit in an orange-sprayed bag's obituary, the better.
Xi must be rubbing his hands with glee at all this.
I get the distinct impression that we aren't going to hear the term "international rules based order" used too much in the next four years since Trump is going down the Superpower, might makes right path.
Not only is the western bloc fractured since Trump alienates the US's historical allies but it also surely creates space for them to operate without being chastised for breaching western rules and norms.

Yes , Xi must be happy that US is pulling out of stuff left right and centre , and they can neatly step in and fill the gap and spread influence and power by velvet revolution, piece of piss.
No in that it’s the crazy situation of they kind of need the US to buy all its stuff despite China holding most of the US debt. A truly global house of economic cards and interdependence. Trump makes out he’s all about the deal and trade, but the truth is he’s as protectionist as hell and would it seems cheerfully have the US in its own bubble with as little to do with the rest of the world as possible.

Why the feck does any adult need a fecking straw anyway!!! All straws should be banned for anyone over the age of 10 unless it is for a very, very alcoholic cocktail in which case it shouldn't be required long enough to go soft!
