Please don't say you have forgotten the "Monkey Face", "Ape in Heels", and "monkey on a stick" among many other attacks on her by right-wing nutjobs. Then there was the whole "Michael Obama" phase when the right was claiming she is a transvestite. There is no reason to think things might have improved after another Trump term.
That’s Trump’s message. He owes Russia and his team play the same tune. If he dies, the record will change immediately.

Military websites remove webpages celebrating the Navajo code talkers from WWII. Also removed is a reference to a 2018 presidential proclamation celebrating the Native American contribution to the American military, a proclamation that was of course signed by one Donald Trump.

I think it's fairly clear the the Trump Administration is aiming for a white supremacist elected dictatorship at this point, with a healthy dose of patriarchal themes on the side.

The US, like Europe, is finished. No individual can save it. It would take a mass awakening but this won't happen
Both will be brought down by corruption and lies. Esp politicians and the media. It happens. Empires rise and the people become complacent (and stupid). Then the criminals take over. Once they start stealing they can't stop. And start to remove rights people have (like free speech and fair trials etc to try and protect themselves). Slowly people start to wake up but then its becomes a fight between the awake and asleep. A country divided like this can't survive. The US is in a better position than the EU (that was built on lies) but not by much.

I asked American friends a few years ago why the most obvious best candidate was being overlooked and they replied that the US electorate was suspicious of dynasties nowadays. This was before all the fallout from the George Floyd murder. Since then my friends have the feeling that there has been a definite entrenchment of views which would make it very difficult for any non-white to win the presidential election.
There is also the fact that several times she has stated that she wouldn't want to be put through another campaign and stay in the Whitehouse.
This is their test case - does the US want Trump to deport these so called gang members (PS Many aren't but just innocent guys picked up off the street) or does it want the 'will of the President' thwarted by some commie Judges. If Trump and his mob of brown shirted henchmen win this case about the deportation flights and the Judge gets removed from the case/impeached then the US is completely lost. If the Supreme Court backs down then Trump and his nazis have carte blanche to start doing whatever they want including mass deportations of anyone they dont like racially, polically or whatever. If they win, and remember this is the Supreme Court judges who voted to give Trump Presidential immunity whilst in office, then forget about fair and free elections in a couple of years. Even without the BLM movement, Obama's election broke the American right, just completely short-circuited their brains. It created the Tea Party movement and a massive escalation in obstructionist tactics from the Republican party more broadly. They started picking on minutiae they never would have with a white president (the furore over his wearing a tan suit [like Reagan used to do...] for example). In this particularly hateful soil the creeping blight of the current MAGA movement emerged, it's definitely not going anywhere any time soon. However much some of them might be having an epiphany that Trump isn't good for them or interested in their well-being, they're still at heart intransigent bigots.Tichtheid wrote: Wed Mar 19, 2025 9:29 am

There is an interview on YouTube - Jon Stewart and Ian Hislop, where Stewart claims the current situation has been long in the planning and making - going back to Nixon. This begat the Tea Party and stuffed the federal and state authorities with approved candidates. Written down like this it reads like tin foil hat stuff, but if you haven't seen it, the interview is worth a watch, Stewart makes a more compelling case than I do here.

Any President. And its for official acts only.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President ... ted_States
Presidential immunity is the concept that a sitting president of the United States has both civil and criminal immunity for their official acts.[a] Neither civil nor criminal immunity is explicitly granted in the Constitution or any federal statute.[1][2]
The Supreme Court of the United States found in Nixon v. Fitzgerald (1982) that the president has absolute immunity from civil damages actions regarding conduct within the "outer perimeter" of their duties. However, in Clinton v. Jones (1997), the court ruled against temporary immunity for sitting presidents from suits arising from pre-presidency conduct. Some scholars have suggested an immunity from arrest and criminal prosecution as well, a view which has become the practice of the Department of Justice under a pair of memoranda (1973 and 2000) from the Office of Legal Counsel. Presidents Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump were criminally investigated while in office, but none were prosecuted while still in office. In February 2024, former President Trump claimed absolute immunity from being investigated for any crimes committed while in office. The Supreme Court ruled in Trump v. United States (2024) that all presidents have absolute criminal immunity for official acts under core constitutional powers, presumptive immunity for other official acts, and no immunity for unofficial acts.[5][6]

I have seen that video, it's a real shame that Stewart isn't considered a more prominent voice by the Democratic party. Satirist he may be, he's spot on far more often than not and is tapped in in a way that the establishment Dems could never hope to be.Tichtheid wrote: Wed Mar 19, 2025 10:14 amsockwithaticket wrote: Wed Mar 19, 2025 10:03 amEven without the BLM movement, Obama's election broke the American right, just completely short-circuited their brains. It really shouldn't be seen as tin foil hat, The Southern Strategy is a very real and documented phenomenon and is a real window into the malign patience of the Republican party and, more importantly, its backers. Also of the drive and efficacy of that political machine. For better or worse, the right seem to make a lot more progress with their agenda than the centrists, let alone the left. It helps that their agenda often dovetails with things the donor class support.
