31-0 now. Any faint hopes of a comeback appear to be gone.

Tasman had a decent spell inside the Auckland 22m but the defense did not break.

Anybody know if the Hurricanes have Rayasi on contract again next year?
He could also be with the Olympic7’s and skip 15’s
Either way I’d love to have him signed to a multi year contract

A tough loss but at least it was to my second favourite team. Well done, Mooloos.

Bugger. Tough season for Canterbury - third one point loss, and second after the full time hooter. I question the decision to take Drummond and Burke off with 20 to go in a tight game. All went to shit after that.

I only saw the last 5mins or so. Please don't tell me we had Cameron at 10 for the last 20.

We had possession, albeit on our own goal line, with 70 seconds to go. Enari kicked the ball away and we never touched it again, evetually losing the match 9 minutes later. Why didn't we ruck it out 2 or 3 more times and close out the game? That was so un-Canterbury like.

Why does Canterbury insist on taking off a class halfback like Drummond at the 60 minute mark so often?

They have lost a number of crucial games partly due to subbing in a clearly inferior 9 at crunch time.

It makes no sense.

Exactly. 3 rucks and kick it out. Worst case if we drop it/turn it over Waikato get possession and decent territory back either way. We also tried to hold it in that scrum when we were clearly being dominated at scrum time, which led to messy possession.

It's driving me insane. Probably cost us two wins this year. Enari is a good player but I don't think he has the maturity yet to close out a tight game like this as well as Drummond can.

Formulaic coaching - you swap your halfback after an hour. Is it a coaching maturity issue with Thorne not being prepared to move away from the status quo? It’s frustrating.

Just as well the All Blacks won - the Cantab National Party supporters would be suicidal otherwise.

I don’t know, when all else fails there’s always a Super Rugby replay .

Pfffft - I can go back and recall Don Clark kicking for goal out of the mud with a brick

Shite, dullard coaching from two shite, dullard players? Thorne and Blackadder.

I had a few bob on the Cantabs the other year thinking they would close out Auckland even though it was at Eden Park.

Sure enough they sub Mitchell for some no name at 60 minutes. Sure enough their performance deteriorates, and they lose.

Good to see Josh Timu really turn up for Otago. It must be hard being the child of a well-known player and being compared to him.

He was a promising schoolboy player but hadn't shown a lot at provincial level. Looks to have found his feet and that performance should give him a confidence boost.

Also good to see Josh Dickson getting back on the park. He makes a huge difference.

Someone should sign up that young Irish lock Jack Regan for Super Rugby. He does the core work well, carries solidly and is improving every week.

apropos of absolutely nothing.

I was reminded of the times - was it in the early 80's? - when new zealand rugby crowds consisted exclusively of men wearing plaid lumberjack-type jackets.

was it a particular brand?

Swanndri.

https://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/topic/852
When William Broome, a New Plymouth menswear retailer, invented the Swanndri® bush shirt near the end of the nineteenth century, he couldn’t have foretold that it would become a kiwi icon. It has been featured on a postage stamp, and is such a loved item in many people’s wardrobes that Te Papa launched a nationwide competition inviting people to send in their favourite Swanndri® stories. Te Papa staff were amazed by the number of people who referred to their Swanndri® bush shirts as ‘Old Faithful’!

The winners of the competition were Ron Mitchell and D J Miller.

The Swanndri® business all started when Broome designed a short-sleeved woollen overshirt and immersed it in a special (and to this day, secret) waterproofing formula. He patented his invention on 23 December 1913, and devised the now famous Swanndri® logo – a swan in a circle. He had his shirts manufactured at the Bruce Woollen Mill in Milton, Southland.

These garments were quickly adopted by outdoor workers like hunters and farmers, and became renowned for their warmth and waterproof qualities in all weathers.

In 1927, a tailor named John McKendrick added a hood, a laced front, and long sleeves to the original design, creating the olive green 103, the Swanndri® bush shirt as we know it today. McKendrick’s firm – Jack Mack Limited – began to produce the Swanndri® bush shirt, and pay royalties to the Broome family.

In September 1964, Jack Mack Limited bought the rights to the Swanndri® trademark. In 1974 the company name changed to John Mack Limited then, on 12 March 1975, they were bought out by Alliance Textiles Limited in Oamaru. As the new owners of the patent for the Swanndri®, Alliance Textiles developed the wide range of Swanndri® garments that are available today.

The Swanndri® is now a unisex garment, worn by everyone from farmhands to holidaying yuppies. It is still made of New Zealand wool, shrunk in a special process to increase its moisture and wind resistance. Together with jandals and togs, the bush shirt is one of the great Kiwi ‘uniforms’, symbolising our love of outdoor life.

Seems to ring a bell, but that may well be just my dislike for him showing through.
He fesses up to wearing gloves, but steadfastly claims he didn't wear pantyhose (sorry, can't copy and paste):

Canterbury are not looking very settled at all. None of the players seem to have any idea of what the others are doing. I am a long way from being sold on Prinsep as a captain.

And we lose a man to the bin along with a penalty try. Hard to argue with either. BOP are playing excellent rugby

22-3 to BOP after a penalty try. Not complaining about the penalty try, but there were two clear forward passes in the lead up by BOP.

Canterbury have 67% possession but are incapable of using it effectively.
