I presume all of this is humour? There aren't actually people upset about this, are there?

We have a cluster here in Sligo with a family returning from Iraq (the Dad’s a barber ffs), and since yesterday, when the caravan parks opened in Strandhill and Rosses Point, we’ve had a cavalcade of caravans from all over the country, but mainly from Nordie Land. Anyone who thinks this will end well has their head stuck firmly up their ass.CM11 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:17 amWe were allegedly down to 1 in a million in the community. He is completely oblivious to the pressure parents have been under for months. Blind to it. Starts shiteing on about travel and then cites a tiny hotspot of 5 or 6 cases from Iraq. Baghdad is majestic this time of year with the sun shining and the faint smell of fresh Napalm in the morning hazeEnergiseR wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:25 amHe is completely oblivious to the pressure parents have been under for months. Outdoor stuff is still low risk though. The question really is whether we have the transmission route between general population and vulnerable under control.
Iraq is the latest of the imported cases. He's also mentioned several other countries.EnergiseR wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:25 amHe is completely oblivious to the pressure parents have been under for months. Blind to it. But for me it'd be less the countries that are traveled to and more trying to get there and back without catching it in the airport/on the flight.
I'm also not sure why travel abroad is vital for kids? Holiday yes but why specifically abroad?

lets hear you say this after you have spent a week trapped in a holiday home in West Cork with your 6000 kids because its hoored rain the whole timeCM11 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:33 amIraq is the latest of the imported cases. It is but you know Americans and their sense of entitlement.
Wait until you see the Brits reaction when they need authorisation to travel to the EU next year. They will lose their minds.
West Cork, Kerry or Connemara is where we usually go. We were actually meant to be abroad this year but only for the 4th summer holiday with the kids since our first was born. Not worth the travel hassle and cost.HighKingLeinster wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:35 amlets hear you say this after you have spent a week trapped in a holiday home in West Cork with your 6000 kids because its hoored rain the whole timeCM11 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:33 amIraq is the latest of the imported cases. Looks very difficult to maintain that if the asymptomatic stuff is trueCM11 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:30 amAvoid Sligo, gotcha. ;)Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:23 amWe have a cluster here in Sligo with a family returning from Iraq (the Dad’s a barber ffs), and since yesterday, when the caravan parks opened in Strandhill and Rosses Point, we’ve had a cavalcade of caravans from all over the country, but mainly from Nordie Land. We do know a lot more now though and I'd say some asymptomatic spread in the past wasn't actually asymptomatic. e.g. The loss of smell or fatigue, which people would have ignored. They're also testing way more and getting asymptomatic close contacts.
True. It will be verboten to go anywhere with the sniffles. That has its own issues as we are about to have the recession from hell. This bullshit from McWilliams that it will be grand is scarily inaccurate. Being broke is being broke and with everybody the same we won't have FDI to cushion the blow.
I'm still optimistic but a second wave (not unlikely) will probably dampen that.EnergiseR wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:49 am True. It will be verboten to go anywhere with the sniffles. We're also one of few countries whose manufacturing output increased, and not insignificantly

Looks like Netanyahu is shaping up to annex jewish settlements in the West Bank
Shinners will have a field day
Interesting timing for Coveney and Ireland’s new-found position of influence on the UN Security Council

We need to stay neutral on that. We need US FDI and the US is an ally of Israel. Fact is Issues in Israel/Palestine should not concern us as we've little to gain from it.Locke Lamora wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 10:08 am Looks like Netanyahu is shaping up to annex jewish settlements in the West Bank

Iarmhi that is spot on. I think the important thing is to take the fear out of it now as in the blind panic some are feeling. Here is the measures and here is how we are dealing with it. Get Tony back ensuring cancer patients etc are getting looked after and tell him we'll see him in a few months

We won't stay neutral. Why didn't he manufacture a war and annex that way during all the hubbub and messiarmhí wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 10:12 amWe need to stay neutral on that. While I don't disagree that he should be very focused on normal health issues and clearing that backlog, he is hardly going to stop advising the government or population during a pandemic. Summer hasn't stopped this elsewhere, we're where we're at because of huge effort, it'd be a bit pointless for him to just give up and let us at it. Because we've already seen what that looks like with the whole country seeming to think it's over.EnergiseR wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 10:14 am Iarmhi that is spot on. Good man Liathroid.
I never asked you this before. Are you from Ballymahon or Lanesborough?
