Tough even if they get in charge of both houses which is still far from a done deal. But whatever the Dems do the GOP will challenge up to the supreme court and then guess what happens?Blake wrote: Wed Oct 28, 2020 12:11 pmI agree. It has to be decisive; but as with 2012, I doubt the GOP will follow through on the inevitable introspection and move back to the center. My guess is the next incarnation of the Tea Party fueled by their Q-anon fever dream will push them even further into the far right.Fangle wrote: Wed Oct 28, 2020 11:47 am Everything points to a clear democrat victory at all levels giving them complete control in both houses and the white house as Obama had for a couple of years.
My big hope is that whoever wins, it is a clear victory. I don’t want legal battles and recount after recount. And if it’s still close, I foresee trouble in the streets.
What will be interesting, if the Dems get a sweep, is how many measures they will be able to push through in 2 years to cement power like the GOP managed to do for the last 6.
Kill the filibuster? Remove the electoral college? Statehood for DC and Puerto Rico? 2 extra judges on the SC to offset the effect of the Garland seat that McConnell stole?
And once control has been somewhat cemented pursue their healthcare, immigration, environmental and other reforms. No point in spending 2 years building on anything if the GOP are just going to tear it down again next cycle.

Nice to see that Fox News is playing a blinder.
First, by accident; with Mr Big Brain, Tucker shows what a complete fuckwit, & shill he is; by claiming that his dog ate his homework ... & then when they make the mistake of questioning the credibility, & complete hypocrisy of Giuliani in an interview; to which he has a meltdown over, & stomps off.
and for good measure one of their employees manages to trash the integrity of the whole Fox/NI org, with a less than fulsome defence of Rupert Murdock

Finally, after four years of his Presidency; the shitgibbon has said something I can agree with !
Lest anyone forget; this was the GOP Candidate who was never a Republican Party member; & gave political contributions to numerous NY Democrats; & often appeared supporting Bill Clinton, & other Dems.President Donald on Wednesday evening referred to RINOs—an initialism for Republicans in Name Only—as "the lowest form of human life."
I think Trump is the last, great hope against out and out globalism. I really hope he manages to win. If he does it will be an even more impressive victory than the first win given what he's had to face.
Biden said that he would tell us what his plans were for the Supreme Court sfter Barret had been processed. Everything went as predicted by everyone. I have stopped watching all political news etc for a while now, so I am wondering what these plans are.

I think he said before the voting, even though about half the expected voters have already voted.
Me neither but I take it you don't like the idea of the nation state, identity and sovereignty?Niegs wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 5:31 pmNot having a go, but what's wrong with globalism?DAC wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 4:56 pm I think Trump is the last, great hope against out and out globalism. Did anyone see Farage licking Trump's arse the other day?
Truly nauseating, but Donald lapped it up, as you;'d expect.

Trump is the best US president the world has seen in a long time. He has achieved more in 3.5 years than Obama did in 8 if you're actually honest about it.

Nope, PT has done a great job......told China to fuck off, sat down with North Korea, sorted out a massive peace deal in the ME, created so many jobs that unemployment levels among the BAME communities were at an all time low, didn't start one fucking war and didn't feed the IMC, I could go on.
But, Orange Man Bad!, right?

They've been working together for years now, taking the next step to make ties official is nice, but it's a long way from peace in the middle east.obelixtim wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:01 pm Massive peace deal in the ME. As if Israel and the UAE have ever had a fight.

To be quite honest, Netanyahu knows exactly how to play the brain-dead oaf and has probably extracted all the concessions that are practically possible in negotiating.
Frarage's game, too, is transparently clear.
As for Erdogan, he's probably laughing his cock off at how easy Trump is to manipulate. Him and Kim Jong Un. Putin, however, is probably in despair.

In keeping with the rest of this calamitous administrations plans; their efforts to suppress the opposition vote, has backfired tremendously !
The early voting, & record levels of young voters is all leading to a record turnout with days still to go.
Given how much work the GOP spent on trying to deny these voters their say, this doesn't look good for any GOP candidates on the ballots. A record turnout will also make trying to reverse anything in the courts incredibly difficult, & it's hard to imagine too many Judges want to touch it with a barge pole.

Yep - the polls have remained very consistent throughout the campaign. Trump recovered a bit from his disastrous performances in the debates (especially the 1st one) but his attempts to smear Biden have fallen on deaf ears - and the smears have turned into a bit of a farce for the Republicans.fishfoodie wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:24 pm In keeping with the rest of this calamitous administrations plans; their efforts to suppress the opposition vote, has backfired tremendously !

Five Thirtyeight give Trump a one in ten chance of winning. The Economist give him a one in 20 chance. He's toast.

There's going to be an enormous amount of anger against the GOP leadership after this; & the donors aren't going to be interested in putting money into supporting a bunch of imbeciles.
'Massive middle east deal' - get tae fuck! That was like inviting two of your best mates to a party and then celebrating when they both accepted. Typical of Trump's desperation to get anything - anything - in the win column.
Now, moving the US embassy to Jerusalem? that was a ballsy play, and one I can credit Trump with (although it was probably not his idea!).
Inheriting an economy that was on the up from Obama? Please.... if Corona hadn't come along, Trump would have fucked the economy like he fucked all of his businesses.

Nothing !
It was a gift to Bibi.
All it did was show Palestinians that there was no point engaging with this Administration. Four wasted years, & more settlements being illegally built; & more shit to be unraveled before any meaningful peace deal ca ever be done.

And the Dems still need to win the senate which is not easy even with a blue wave given the nature of the gerrymandering that was done in the USA after 2010. No senate and big chunk of what Trump has undone will stay that way.
Its a cultural thing.
The likes of Bobby Orr, Don Cherry are always going to buy into the appeal of someone who presents themselves as plain speaking. These old guys hate stuff like political correctness and in Trump they see a repudiation of that culture.

Wow, Michael Moore really goes into the conspiracy theories here at about 9 minutes:
Sadly the bit I agree with him is there will be a lot of BS and lawyers thrown about after the election. But I've never seen Sagaar and Krystal look nervous about something, they obviously think Moore went off the deep end here.

I can understand the reluctance to look at the polls, & call a result; because in 2016, networks did this, & looked like complete asses on election day.eldanielfire wrote: Sat Oct 31, 2020 12:28 am Wow, Michael Moore really goes into the conspiracy theories here at about 9 minutes:

But ... 4 days before election day 2016; there weren't 80 million votes cast !
With that number of votes cast; polls aren't so much polls; as they are exit polls !
The imponderable now is how the inevitable court cases play out; & that depends on just how big the margins are in States
I have a feeling that the courts will end up looking at what the polls said was the margin; & what the final vote was; & if there isn't a major discrepancy; they'll say the vote looks legitimate.

Biden camp reporting problems with turnout in black and latino communities. Whether that's a real concern or an attempt to get people to polling stations I don't know
