These days it's a bit shocking how many people close to you die of Corvid-19.

Corvid-19 don't vok around. 10 - 15 days is all it need if you are badly affected.

We try to go out as minimum as possible. That's all you can control.

Definitely....although I really cannot see them keeping the kids apart at training . Its just natural for the kids to talk and play...so understandable.
Such a tragedy though that the kids have lost a complete year of cricket.

Was actually sleeping. Off shore fishing that morning at 5am. The fuckers stole out sandwiches. Found everything missing as we got up at 4:30am to be on the boat at 5am.

With the lock down ruling we havent see any schoolboy sport in 2020. This will continue for 2021 and may be 2022.

This will leave a three year gap in our youth structures. 7 year olds will only start playing as 10 year olds, u13 Primary boys will only play as u18s again.

This lock down must be hectic on our schools and parents.

Winde writes to Mkhize to relax beach and booze ban in the Western Cape

Cape Town – Premier Alan Winde has written to Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize urging him to relax restrictions - including swimming at the beach and the ban on the sale of alcohol, as cases in the Western Cape are in decline.

The province has passed the peak of the second wave of Covid-19 infections, said Winde, and the province is again shifting its focus to the Western Cape economy.

“Throughout this devastating pandemic, the Western Cape government has focused on getting the balance right: trying to save both lives and livelihoods.

“We have done everything we can in the most difficult of circumstances to provide a world-class health response that delivers life-saving health care to every person who needs it when they need it,” Winde said

“During this time, we have also not been afraid to fight for jobs, because having a job is not just a ‘nice-to-have’. For many people in the Western Cape it is the difference between putting food on the table and starving.”

Winde said the province has essentially been responding to two pandemics – one caused by the Covid-19 virus, and the other by growing poverty, unemployment and hunger.

“Our position remains that both need to be fought with passion and courage, because both cost lives – now and in the future.

“When President Cyril Ramaphosa announced additional restrictions for the Western Cape and South Africa last month, taking us to an adjusted alert level 3, I supported the announcement as a necessary last resort.”

He added that at the time, the Western Cape was experiencing a significant surge of new infections and hospitalisations, caused by the new highly transmissible variant of Covid-19.

“To put it simply, because more people were being infected with Covid-19 at a faster rate, more people were arriving at our health-care facilities over a shorter period of time. This surge put an enormous burden on our health-care workers at a time when health-care worker infections were on the increase at a faster rate.”

With the surge taking place during the festive period when more people come together to socialise with family and friends, it created a perfect storm, as there were more people arriving at trauma units as a result of alcohol-related incidents.

“We needed to get the balance right again by helping our health-care system. In supporting some of these restrictions, we were clear that they needed to be reviewed after 14 days, and every seven days thereafter, based on evidence and data,” Winde said.

“I have therefore written to the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, to request the following changes to restrictions in the Western Cape, as a matter of urgency,” Winde said.

He is calling for:

The ban on beaches and other public spaces to be lifted in the Western Cape as open spaces with good ventilation “are safer and they do not provide a high risk”. He said the festive season is over, and people are back at work.
The curfew be changed to 11pm to 4am, as the current curfew makes it difficult for restaurants to provide a dinner service. Winde said this sector is buckling as a result.
A closing time of 10pm for establishments, that will allow for staff to get home before curfew begins.
Alcohol sales be permitted off-site from Monday to Thursday, and not permitted on the weekend.
Alcohol sales be permitted at wine farms on the weekend, “as this is the time when most visitors come to wine farms”. Winde said such sales are critical for the survival of wine tourism in the province.
On-site alcohol consumption be allowed.
Winde added: “As is clear from above, we are not requesting a complete lifting of all restrictions, as it is important to get the balance right as we continue to exit our peak.

“In particular, the number of people being permitted to gather should not be relaxed at this point, as there is clear evidence that the greater the number of people gathering in an enclosed space, the greater the risk of infection.

“We will continue to monitor our data on a weekly basis and should there be evidence to support additional restrictions being relaxed, we will do so without hesitation.”

Boet honestly, just visit the Inland a bit to see how fortunate we are with a DA government in the Western Cape. I was shocked to see the condition of roads in the Eastern Cape and Free State specially in the small country towns.

From now on I'll never complain with a stop and go on our roads. Never.

I know, I just like Alan Winde and how he makes sense all of the time.

Agree re the roads, although have a stop and go 50 meters outside the gate of my work. You can see the difference in quality as soon as you cross into the Northern Cape.

Visited the Eastern Cape late in 2019 and the roads outside the big towns there are a joke!

So someone in government is looking to give 40 million vaccinations to create herd immunity. There are not 40 million adults in South Africa.

I wonder if they actually do assessments or just wing it tbh....

Clueless...

So who will take the vaccination. I am leaning away from it.

Of course you are. Cos you’re an idiot. You’re a 50+ stressed, Afrikaans male of average health who’s genetically prone to heart disease and stroke.

Your wife will be ok. Successful burger joint owner plus she’ll make a packet selling off your welding shop once you’re gone. I’m sure she’ll have plenty of potential step-fathers for your kid sniffing around.

Taking the vaccine is an absolute no-brainer. For me, the more people that don't want it, the better as it puts me nearer to the front of the queue.

Dude....when I went back to work early you guys had at me for being irresponsible. I had taken a boosters and survived. I have said before that I am not afraid to die. My family will be well looked after.
I am more afraid of not living my life. Whilst I can. You can have my vaccine.

I have gone against the grain the whole way. I hear my mates bitching about no turnover and worrying about everything. I am so much in demand I am full for the next 3 months. I am dealing with like-minded people who are bullish and positive. Even my wifes shop is showing growth of 12 percent month on month.

Just to be clear - you aren't afraid to die and leave your family behind? When you can take this nightmarish option out of the equation with a vaccine shot?
Are you 100 percent convinced the vaccine is the solution and not a nightmare for the future...

Let's get that out of the way first.

In society you will always get the timid sheep and the wolves.

Peace out sister

I'm also not afraid to die of covid and most probably won't but living with the guilt of knowing I inadvertently caused the death of my wife will definitely kill me. People are dying, strong young people. I know of three people my age with no comorbidities in hospital. We've been told chances of them surviving are slim to none.
