You just know the 6N committee will fine Sco. It'll be Tyhpoon "Haggis"-gate all over again.
Looking like France C to play the Sweaties
Twitter (Some journos in the bunch of rugby people I am following) however apparently is the word so far.
The tournament organisers have really fecked this. How come we went into a tournament during a pandemic without clear rules as to what happened in the event of, well, this?
What ought to happen is postponement to a date when both sides will be able to field a full team. This is obviously a problem with a date outside the windows, but the 6N should pay compensation to the clubs to release their players. After all, if the game is a farce, it’s their brand (the most valuable in the game?) that will be devalued as a result. However, I’ve read that it can’t be next weekend because the French team will still be isolating. A match in July really isn’t an option, as the Lions tour guarantees (even with Gatland in charge) that we will be missing at least 3-4 of our best players. And playing the game in the autumn is unlikely to work given that France at least will likely be in the mix for the title.
Dunno what the solution is, but Scotland had better not be shafted because France had an outbreak.

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

They should go back to rugby's core values and settle it with a drinking competition
Not fair if the Scots have to buyChrysoprase wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 5:30 pm They should go back to rugby's core values and settle it with a drinking competition
This is true. If we hadn’t blown it against Wales and were 2 for 2, I’d be really pissed off. But we did.

The French just have to add their Gallic flair to fucking up a Grand Slam chance, don't they? Making a bosh of it on the field like the rest of us is not good enough for them, eh?
Fair enough mate. Just doesn't feel like a real 6N to me, just sick of the whole fucking situation. This was meant to be a bit of relief but it's now fucked as well, just want to move on and keep looking to things improving.

Surely the precedent is what happened with foot & mouth? Play it in the autumn.

Should be doable but at any rate the clubs need to be on board (English and French).
Scotland should have a spare weekend in Autumn so shouldn't be an issue.laurent wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:35 pmAre you saying it's from cattle ;)Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:23 pm Surely the precedent is what happened with foot & mouth? Play it in the autumn.

Sorry but that's BS. We want that spare weekend to be at BT Murrayfield because after the last year we need the fucking money.Jock42 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:48 pmScotland should have a spare weekend in Autumn so shouldn't be an issue.laurent wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:35 pmAre you saying it's from cattle ;)Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:23 pm Surely the precedent is what happened with foot & mouth? And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
If it went to July and we were still in the hunt for championship then no one should be going on lions. I personally don't support the lions but even if I did, a potential 6N champ is far more important!Yr Alban wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 4:43 pm The tournament organisers have really fecked this. And on the 7th day, the Lord said "Let there be Finn Russell".
I'm not sure the players would feel that way, the Lions is still the pinnacle for them.
Put any fan in the position of being picked for the Lions and I think they'd change their mind.
Et tu, Jock?

Also what do the players get paid for a lions tour vs a one off international?

Technically she's threatened to remove the French side's exemption to permit them to play in the 6N. 6N would go on: without France.
I like this girl: she's not letting Mackay or the FFR cronies off the hook lightly.

Article in the Times suggesting that the game is set to go ahead on 26th March. PRL apparently willing to release Scottish players

Quite surprised PRL are willing to do them but good on them! I guess at this stage the RFU have a financial interest in the game being played and France beating us.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 5:20 pm Article in the Times suggesting that the game is set to go ahead on 26th March. Same date touted in French media. (LNR agreement so that's some Scottish Players available there).I like neeps wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 5:52 pmQuite surprised PRL are willing to do them but good on them! RFU might, PRL don't. Think they're just trying to avoid bad publicity tbh, and it's less of an issue during a season with no relegation and all kinds of other disruption.I like neeps wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 5:52 pmQuite surprised PRL are willing to do them but good on them!
