To be fair, there are loads of posters who never post about rugby, too exercised by the US Politics and Brexit threads usually.
Name five.
I should change my wording to "c90% of posts" as I couldn't possibly have read everything they posted.
I don't want to be going down the road of naming these people as I don't think it's particularly high-minded and, in any case, I'm sure someone would be able to pull up an example where they posted regularly about rugby in the past. I only joined the old board in summer 2018 so I didn't know the PR world before tedious obsessions with all things Brexit, Trump, Culture Wars etc would have come to the fore (given that they're fairly recent phenomena).
My point on the above being, mass non-rugby posters are hardly without precedence.
I have to put my hand up and say that I haven't posted about rugby on this rugby forum.
In my defence there's been precious little rugby to get too excited about over the last couple of months.

Kellyanne Conway, the author of "alternative facts", has jumped ship.

Seems to be a domestic thing as George is stepping down from the Lincoln project also?

Would that make the odious Miller the only non-family member to have lasted the Administration?

The daughter keeps tweeting about how much the parents' career [choices?] have ruined their lives, not a great look ahead of an election. I prefer to think of Kellyanne seeking to leave a sinking ship, though....

Kelly Anne was the administration, she wasn't some bit part player, she single handedly inspired others with her warped bullshit, and glued it all together in times of severe crisis.
This isn't about jumping ship.
She didn't hitch her wagon to trump. If anything he hitched his to hers.

Didn't she spend a couple of days calling out Trump on Twitter a few weeks back? I'd assumed she had already gone after that, apparently not.
Essentially, what the GOP stands for (or doesn't) under Trump
Cheers for posting that, great read.
Trump's speech at the RNC is the expected jingoistic word salad... currently crapping on about how the Dakota pipeline has been approved and is a great thing... pretty much proving everything in the politico article.

Trump is saying the only way he can lose is if the election is rigged. He though he appears to have been the one trying to rig it by suppressing votes.

Apparently the Republicans have decided not to adopt any new election policy platform whatsoever this year, preferring to stick with their 2016 version. So if Trump wins they'll be happy to just let him keep making shit up as he goes along.

They should call up Seneca/Santa and BillW to speak at the RNC - they'd be slightly less mediocre and second rate than the bunch of losers they currently have lined up.

I'm kind of in a state of suspended belief that Trump really is whipping up the population to not accept the result of the election. It just seems incredible that this is happening in a modern state, the leaders of the free world no less. The fact that lawmakers on his side are happy to sit and twiddle their thumbs and not make a stand is beyond contempt.
Is 4 years enough to bring down an empire? I guess it is. The best bet is that this passes into history and we march on, but I don't think it is beyond the realms of possibility that this will cause civil war and the end of the USA hegemony

I said as much a few years ago. Namely that there was a danger that Trump would try to spark a rebellion if he failed to win a second term but was derided as being a conspiracy theorist at the time.
The point is that there are enough small heavily armed militia including that Bundy Boys outfit that instigated an armed insurrection in Navada to make the scenario plausible.
The fact that these groups are legally heavily armed must leave a trail of touchpowder to a potentially dangerous tinderbox, should Trump not win. And Trump is clearly lighting matches.
I'm not saying that it will happen; merely that the potential exists.
Who knows, maybe Trump will be re-elected by landslide rendering the possibility moot.

Are these sorts actually prepared to act on their rhetoric though? If the bullets started flying, especially if the military is involved, would these guys stick at it and fight / die or would they slink off into the distance with their tails between their legs?
I genuinely don't know but my best guess is they would choose the later option?

Whoever wins the election, I honestly see nothing serious happening. There might be a bunch making some noise, but not even a fraction of the size of the recent marches and damage caused in say Portland or Seattle.

hysteria about undermining a system of voting that was used by 20% of the voting population last time out and which will be the only safe way of voting in a pandemic - that hysteria ?

yeah, if Trump loses it'll be another sideshow with plenty of angry fcuking morons but I dont see a military coup unfolding and I wouldn't fancy the chances of any knuckle dragging militia taking on the US federal forces

So Fredo Trump plans on taking the 5th, rather than testifying to the AD investigating the tax/bank/insurance fraud by his shit stain of a father.
And the GOP has been telling us for decades that only criminals take the 5th; things like:
“The mob takes the Fifth,” Trump said after Hillary Clinton aides invoked their right against self-incrimination. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”
He added at his first debate with Clinton that pleading the Fifth is “disgraceful.”
