Leg break was right in front on me. Horrendous. Poor fucker. Hope he recovers ok.
Quins defence outstanding. Look forward to Stephen Jones telling everyone how shit Smith was in the morning.

Good. Shit decision that one. Carly was correct in his initial assessment and should have pushed back more with the TMO.Kawazaki wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:08 pm Ben Earl's red card dismissed. No surprise to me, it was ridiculous. Carley is not a good referee - the TMO was garbage as well.

The apology should suffice
No, he should cop a ban. Just because he apologised doesn't mean that he's not overstepped the line again, and it's a particularly cunty thing to say given the circumstances. If he didn't know, that's on him - he chose to say it.
Much like with Hill's ...

Can we talk about how mad this squad is? https://www.englandrugby.com/news/article/six-nations-rugby-england-italy-test-talk
27 players. 16 forwards. 11 backs.
Forwards: 6 props. 3 hookers. 4 locks, all of them also covering blindside. No blindside. 1 openside. 2 number 8s.

He's been mostly back at 13 this season I think
Once. 4 on the wing and a 1 at fullback to Lozowski’s 9 games at 13.
Add that to the one he played last season, he’s now played two games at 13 since leaving Wasps.
Daft decision. If you’re going to play Daly then he should swap with Marchant ...

It certainly is a fucking thing. At the oval this summer they shut the bars at 5.30 and the rain and slow over rate meant that play went on until 7 and we had to spend an hour without a beer. The cunts.

I still know absolutely nothing about Nic Dolly, is he any good, or just in the right place (an improving Leicester side) at the right time (several other hookers knacked).
Looks the part at Tigers considering he's been round the block and was playing Championship not so long ago. Completely ...

So, with Faz out what will Eddie's little surprise be for us.
Keep Tuilagi on the wing and replace Faz with Simmonds
Simmons has had his 4 minutes and made a try so he’ll be jettisoned. Atkinson in to 12 with Manu still on the wing is nailed on.
Farrell out but no other 10 called up ...

Good to see Will Skelton back involved.
He's disappeared since that Euro semi last season. Done nothing really at LaR since.
Happens to many ex-Saracens when they leave the club. It's almost as if money doesn't buy leagues.
So, let me get this right. When Earl and Malins tear it up ...

I still do not get Ewels at all. He makes a lot of tackles but none of them stick in the mind and that's about it.

Lawes

May

Only 3 back rows in the 28. So, despite the backrow depth we have, we’re still going with Lawes at 6 then, something that’s been found wanting time and time again. And against Tonga. Wonderful.

One player positive, so all sorts of changes tonight based on close contacts. 37 man squad with 9 isolating.
Will be tough to carry on and sounds like a logistical nightmare for the management team.
Finn Russell the ONLY backs sub tonight.
Eddie Jones will be fucking livid. He wanted ...

This from John Mitchell seems to suggest that England see Ted Hill is seen as a 2nd row who covers backrow rather than the other way round. He also finished the season in the 2nd row for Worcester.

No, not in the squad, so unless he’s injured, like George Martin, he’s gone from being good enough to be on the bench against Ireland 12 weeks ago to not getting in to a 2nd team squad.

I’m on the Sam Simmons bandwagon and if it were me I’d have him at 8 I’d not quite put Billy out to pasture just yet.
In a game which was clearly won by England’s defence he made 25 tackles in 60 minutest. 5 more than anyone else. He’s clearly not as an effective ball carrier as he was in 2016/17 ...

Why don't England pick the best English players playing in England in their normal/best position when they are in form?
I know it sounds radical but it might work.
Shame we never got to see
12. Erinle
13. Foden
14. Tuilagi.

They both work and they are both pretty attritional in nature, either with or without the ball.
I don’t think Exeter is quite as Gatland ball as some would have us believe, that’s all.

Re: The Official English Rugby Thread
I don’t really get the accusations of boring rugby from Exeter. It’s pretty repetitive when they are within 10 meters of the try line I’ll grant you and I think that’s clouding the opinion over all. They aren’t afraid to attack from deep, run decent lines, the backs see a lot of ball and Slade and ...
