The first five-for of the series for England.
Speaks volumes.
Bairstow isn't going to make it either. Bar a purple patch he has been kept in because the senior people (captain, coaches, selectors) and media like the person.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 7:05 am It's going to be a long painful rebuilding process for England over the next few years. Jimmy Anderson and Broad should be done now. Jofra has just had another elbow op so will be out for a while too. Bairstow, Stokes and Wood are going to have to step up big time. 30-32 is generally the most productive age for test cricketers and they owe the team big time.
England may as well jettison Leach and Buttler after this series. They aren't going to make it.
Anderson's in terrific nick for a 39 year old fast bowler.Big D wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 9:44 amBairstow isn't going to make it either. I think Anderson and Broad will be around for another couple of years, more so Broad I think and be rotated in and out. The injury rate of English fast bowlers, especially the quicker guys, is still quite high as seen with Stone and Archer being absent from this tour. Curran is missing too but I think he is better suited to English conditions.

I liked Jansen's aggression when he was bowling, must be quite intimidating given his height.Rinkals wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:27 pm Watching the replays, I didn't realise how much needle there is between these two teams.
Bumrah hits Elgar in the grill and goes all the way down the pitch to tell him he hopes it hurt. Pant and v.d.Dussen also exchanging pleasantries.
We are almost halfway there with only 2 wickets down, dare one hope?
Did anyone else see that, or am I being a little too precious?
Bumrah and Siraj were the victims of the alleged racist barracking at the SCG when they toured Australia. I'd be surprised if there was any monkey business in Bumrah's gestures. Harbajhan called Symonds a monkey didn't he? And one of the Pakistani batsman used a racial slur when referring to one of the South African cricketers. So while its unlikely, it has happened before.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:13 amFucking hell RinkalsRinkals wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 7:50 pmIt looked suspiciously like Bumrah was making monkey motions to Rabada after he hit that six.assfly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:34 pm

He was bobbing his head around in an odd ape-like manner.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:13 amFucking hell RinkalsRinkals wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 7:50 pmIt looked suspiciously like Bumrah was making monkey motions to Rabada after he hit that six.assfly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:34 pm

What the hell is 'bobbing his head around in an odd ape-like manner'?!
Have a look at the replay.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:05 pmWhat the hell is 'bobbing his head around in an odd ape-like manner'?!
Look, I get that you seek injustice every time you watch cricket, but insinuating that Bumrah racially abused Rabada because his head bobbed is absolutely batshit insane even for you.
Give me a non geo-locked link and I'll give you a fair trial :) but I'd like to make the fairly obvious points that "head weaving" isn't traditionally part of a monkey imitation, and Indian people move their heads a lot when they're communicating, to the point where it's a stereotype:Rinkals wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:10 pmHave a look at the replay.
He's weaving his head around in a way that suggests (to me, at least) imitating a monkey.
He does change it to a nodding motion as if he realises that he might have overstepped the mark, though.
We certainly are at the bottom of a cycle. If we manage to beat India, I'd be ecstatic.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 2:08 pm No Proteas batsmen with a test average over 40. Contrast that with ABDV 50, Kallis 55, Amla 47, Smith 48.
Test cricket is great when its a fourth innings scrap. Even contest between bat and ball.
Cannot agree more. For the elite players, it's still the ultimate test and preferred format.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 2:22 pmTest cricket is great when its a fourth innings scrap. Even contest between bat and ball.

Not likely - hands like smooth silk and the son of a bank manager. The poster child of a beige middle class city dweller.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:20 pmIt is great isn't it?
