Yeah cannot break tackles like he used to which leaves him very exposed given his lack of ball skills. Would be ballsy but Borthwick shouldn’t pick himsockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:38 pmCan't recall when he last had a notable impact on a game.Paddington Bear wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:33 pm Tuilagi ineffectual again, seems increasingly past it sadly

Ref is desperate not to give Saints a RC there
That's because it's not a red.
Almost as desperate as the TMO to give the red

It's about as straightforward as can be. Shouldn't be any mitigation - always high, leading with the shoulder and so not making a legal tackle in the first place.

FFS, if the previous one was a YC, why wasn't that one ?
There was a change in height, because he was being tackled.

Ah cop on, there was no appreciable change by the time JOD made contact. Besides which, he made absolutely no attempt to get down to a regular tackle height, he was pretty much bolt upright and hitting up with his shoulder.fishfoodie wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 3:46 pm FFS, if the previous one was a YC, why wasn't that one ?

All I want is consistency, & remove the bullshit arbitrary mitigation, that has a ref depending on a TMO, or a replay that the TV may, or may not have.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 3:48 pmAh cop on, there was no appreciable change by the time JOD made contact. Contact with the head == Red card, by which measure both sides would now be justifiably down to 14

That's the piss poor defence we've come to expect from Saints.
That said, now that we do have mitigation frameworks, I can very much see why one was red and the other wasn't. On another day both might have been given, but where Haywood's had some room for debate, I just don't that O'Donoghue's does.
I can get on board with that, I sort of preferred the early days of this new drive on head contact where everything was a red because it encouraged more caution from players and at the very least everyone knew what to expect.fishfoodie wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 3:50 pmAll I want is consistency, & remove the bullshit arbitrary mitigation, that has a ref depending on a TMO, or a replay that the TV may, or may not have.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 3:48 pmAh cop on, there was no appreciable change by the time JOD made contact. I think we just saw there, in that last bit of play, what JOD was trying to. Munster like to have the 2nd guy come in very upright to stop the offload, & rip the ball; the problem is if they get the timing wrong, you can get the kind of contact that happened.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 3:56 pm That's the piss poor defence we've come to expect from Saints.

I want them to bliksem them hard. Sending C teams deserve it.
Every time i see a replay of the JOD assault (i use the word advisedly) the worse it looks. He knew exactly what he was doing, that was clearly a deliberate shot to the head. He has his eyes locked on Ribbans head and drove that shoulder into his head with force, he could have easily pulled out of that, there was plenty of time to pull out, but he chose not to.
Is there a video of the incident?ASMO wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 4:18 pm Every time i see a replay of the JOD assault (i use the word advisedly) the worse it looks.
