Jesus Christ and it was all going so well up until that point. We cannot be so arrogant to think NZ can play a guy so badly out of position and still expect to beat the likes of South Africa and England. That kind of shit selection will be badly exposed. Again.Macropal wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 8:33 amYep, there's only 2 international standards 10s in the squad at best, the rest have rarely touched the position. This idea Jordie is a 10 when he may have all of 20 mins at professional level is laughable. TJ probably has the right skill set.mrbrownstone wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 12:53 pmDMac I'll give you although I don't think it's his best position. Jordie isn't a 10 but could probably get away with 20 minutes there in an injury crisis. Who's the third? Surely you're not seriously suggesting TJP could play 10 at international level.Slarty FizzyO wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:28 am Dan54 is right. We have two world class 10s in the squad with three more players who can all cover 10 at that level at a pinch.
All Black Squad named Sunday 6/9/20

Very well. A warm welcome, and let me be the first to say: Fuck off, noob!MitchieRcaw wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 11:24 am Long-time PR lurker and Blues fan since the 80s. Joining as it appears (so far) somewhat less toxic than PC, especially in the last few years.
I go back a few years, like I remember laughing uncontrollably as the Fliddy thread for example - Chins I think?
I hope Foster is serious about rebuilding a seriously physical pack and looking for more specialization. Hansen (post-2015) seemed to progressively fall into the Australian trap that amazing "Skillz" can overcome everything and to try and cram that all into the starting XV somehow rather than admitting some players are actually often better off the bench in terms of impact and team balance.
Skills can't overcome everything - see the losses to Ireland, the WC semi-final exit, and how fast the Boks have closed or overtaken the ABs.
Having watched most of SR Aotearoa ...
- A young physical guy like Sotutu or Mickele Tu'u at 8
- Whoever it is, play the best 7 at seven whether it's Cane or ASavea or whoever (I think he's painted himself into a corner appointing Cane as captain too early)
- Think of Kaino, Jerry Collins and for god's sake play a physical beast like Frizzel at six ... don't get tempted to cram Cane in there
- Decide who is the best 10 for the overall team, the other comes off the bench (if that's Beauden ... tough)
- Goodhue and Lienert-Brown are excellent rugby players but imo too similar at 12/13 ... take a look at combinations with one of those plus one of RIoane or Laumape or Umaga-Jensen
- Play the best fullback at 15 - and I'm pretty sure right now that's Jordie or Will Jordan. If Beauden is not 10 he's on the bench covering 10/15.
- Wings are NEVER the big selection issue. NZ is always crawling with great new wingers like Caleb Clarke
It's the year after a World Cup. Loosen the aura and be prepared to LOSE a few games while experimenting. It's okay, the world won't end especially if you tell your NZR bosses what you are doing.
If the best starting XV means Beauden Barret and Ardie Savea are on the bench so be it. Paying them too much?? Tough sh*t, blame Hansen for not getting the basics sorted in 2018-19.
How am I doing???

Jordie handled the Lions at 10 with aplomb. He's a player with natural instincts that could play almost anywhere off the bat. Unlike Mungos such as SBW and Thorn who took forever to learn the game and still were quite limited on what they could do on the field. Hell Jordie could play 30 minutes at lock or loosie in a test and wouldn't embarrass himself.
Some players just know how to play.
Probably would have led the Blacks to victory at the MCG with a 5w bag and ton had they picked him.

Don't say too much until you have 5000 posts
AC will include the phrase "private dancer" every week or so to wind up the nearest SR rival to the Crusaders ... but to be fair he actually knows at bit about rugby
Avoid the Brexit threads
Don't reply to Bimboxxxxx
Plum = C_nt
That kind of stuff ...
WTF - the "dead horse" emojie is called "Bimbo" ????? Cool
No. I don’t watch much rugby anymore. Not since having kids. While I keep up with results and tune in on occasion and catch part of games, I missed this guy somehow.
Really sad for Ennor, he has amazing speed off the mark so hoping a serious injury like this doesn't destroy that. He is only 23 so has plenty of time to recover.

Give it up Dan, this is the level of hubris you're dealing with here:Dan54 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 5:59 am Why what's your problem? You really remain a first class dick whatever your latest log in name is don't you?I stand by what I say, and because I don't think it impresses a few online posters by being negative about everything it may upset you but tough. I actually believe you go to bed at night and tug yourself over how controversial you imagine you are. The easiest thing in the world to make up for all shortcomings you obviously got is to pretend you know more than everyone else. I still recall you boasting in pub how you thought it was funny to troll everyone on the bored and you did it because you has been banned for lesser evils! Sorry mate you are irrelevant!

yeah kind of half given up on this place though.
resumption of the same decades-old hostilities except now with only 6 members online.
Less "Not Planet Rugby," more "Very Planet Rugby" with... no rugby. And PR back up and running.
Looks kind of doomed.
yes, "user name fits," etc

Foster set to add another 11 players to the squad. Who do we think are the likely candidates? I'd guess something like:Foster confirmed on a zoom call with New Zealand reporters on Tuesday he’ll likely use the full Sanzaar allotment of 46 players for the championship, partly because of the condensed nature of the programme and partly because border restrictions make flying in replacement players all but impossible.
Hooker: Liam Coltman
Prop: Angus Ta'avao, Ruben O'Neill (has been in the mix before, and we're scraping the barrel for prop depth)
Lock: Scrafton, Dunshea
Loose forward: Boshier, MMT
Halfback: Hall (unless they want a development player like Fakatava?)
First-five: Ioane
Midfield: Peter Umaga-Jensen
Utiity: David Havili (fit again for Tasman, covers 10-15 at a pinch)

Soon-ish by the sounds of it.But he will name an extra 10 or 11 to take to Australia, and wants to do so sooner rather than later to give all concerned the appropriate breathing space.
“Purely from a player welfare perspective, I don’t think we can delay the naming of extra players too close to departure because people are going to need the time to get organised for that nine-week stint,” he said.
“We’re going let the next week or two go, but I think we’ll name those extra players with enough time for them to get their personal stuff in line and come away with a lot of energy.”
