11 Blue Bulls players, 9 in the starting XV and 2 on the bench will do duty for the Junior Springboks in their 2nd pool match at the 2023 World Rugby u.20 Championships.

The Junior Boks play Italy on Thursday at Paarl Gymnasium.

One thing people are missing about that team is how much top level rugby they play. Top 14 Pro D2 and Nationale are all fully pro leagues with limitations on how many non locally trained players can play.

That is 3 pro divisions to feed and now most of the starting 15 in all these teams has to be french trained.

Nice idea but Andy Timo is probably quicker than any of the NZ backs and the Fre fwds' handling better than anything by the NZ, SA or Aus backlines.

As Laurent has pointed out, nearly all the Fre lads are already playing pro rugby. A result of the JIFF rules culling the number of foreign players in club rugby. If it had been dry, Fra would have put 50 on that NZ team.

We played last year in the NH summer series and won it easily. We played actual u20s while the NH teams used the tournament to prepare their for the 6 nations and current crop of u20s.

The NH have and excellent tried and tested 6 nations tournament. Their player combinations and experience is well above the SH teams.

So they are just much better prepared compare to the SH teams.

I'd love to see more teams playing smaller, more agile guys at inside centre who often end up on the wing. I remember one year USA U20 had someone in that shirt who must have been a football running back. 5'9" ish, probably 200lbs or thereabouts, incredibly agile and caused a lot of problems. Maybe a bit too 'raw' to progress, but he got me thinking about the damage/options such a player can create, especially when faced with rushing defenders at risk of being stepped.

Masterji, that's definitely the attitude at present, but it's not like there haven't been 'small' 12s ... Matt Giteau, Sam Tuitupou, Kyle Eastmond.
