This Bokkie team is kak, saw that against Georgia. The backs got us out of jail. Julius has been great. Still u19. Hope the $hark$ don't fuck his rugby up.

Looking at the log I think the Bokkies have the best chance. The play last and will know exactly what's needed. But then the likes of France and Ireland will put 40 on themclydecloggie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 3:52 pm Meanwhile, Georgia are 20-0 up against Argentina. Gq
roup C is mental but there's a good chance that the winner of Italy - Georgia will go into the SF.

Been pretty easy for England in the second half. Set piece dominance plus Fiji forcing things and getting further behind on the scoreboard.
Nye Thomas looks like he'll continue the grand tradition of England U20s pulling on the Welsh shirt in the future, provided the WRU don't completely implode Welsh Rugby.

Would have been a bit more loose but the french backs are not slow or bad either.Grandpa wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 9:23 pmI wonder if they would perform better in dry conditions? Hard to know if the weather prevented a bigger hiding or not?
One thing people are missing about that team is how much top level rugby they play. Top 14 Pro D2 and Nationale are all fully pro leagues with limitations on how many non locally trained players can play.
That is 3 pro divisions to feed and now most of the starting 15 in all these teams has to be french trained.
The wheel is in motion for strong French U20 on a regular basis
NZ Rugby has to start taking U20 seriously or they'll be left behind at senior level as well... France were very impressive...laurent wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 9:52 pmWould have been a bit more loose but the french backs are not slow or bad either.

Nice idea but Andy Timo is probably quicker than any of the NZ backs and the Fre fwds' handling better than anything by the NZ, SA or Aus backlines.
As Laurent has pointed out, nearly all the Fre lads are already playing pro rugby. A result of the JIFF rules culling the number of foreign players in club rugby. If it had been dry, Fra would have put 50 on that NZ team.

England, France, Italy, Argentina played yearly in our U18 International Series against our SA schoolboy team just after Craven Week around August /Sept at Paarl Gimnasium

We played last year in the NH summer series and won it easily. We played actual u20s while the NH teams used the tournament to prepare their for the 6 nations and current crop of u20s.
The NH have and excellent tried and tested 6 nations tournament. Their player combinations and experience is well above the SH teams.
So they are just much better prepared compare to the SH teams.

So they are used to the conditions and fields, extSouth Africa will feature two teams in the six-match series, with all matches taking place at Paarl Gymnasium from 19 – 27 August.

Mud. It's why Stormers never got going against Munster in the final and lost.

I normally hate the going to war, and fuck them up speeches (especially since I play at about the lowest level there is, and pretty much everyone needs to go to work on Monday, back to a family after etc), but that speech was pretty inspirational. Not bollocks about killing the oppo etc, but fighting together as a family, to earn and demand respect. Fantastic speech.

Great summer weather since yesterday and no rain expect until next weekend.

He played CC for WP in the midfield. Schooled at Stellenberg like Angelo Davids.
I'd love to see more teams playing smaller, more agile guys at inside centre who often end up on the wing. I remember one year USA U20 had someone in that shirt who must have been a football running back. 5'9" ish, probably 200lbs or thereabouts, incredibly agile and caused a lot of problems. Maybe a bit too 'raw' to progress, but he got me thinking about the damage/options such a player can create, especially when faced with rushing defenders at risk of being stepped.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 5:39 am Another young Stormers mid fielder coming through. Masterji, that's definitely the attitude at present, but it's not like there haven't been 'small' 12s ... Matt Giteau, Sam Tuitupou, Kyle Eastmond.

The Springbok coaches use your straight running, dumb 12s over many years.Niegs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 5:18 pmI'd love to see more teams playing smaller, more agile guys at inside centre who often end up on the wing. Myself like the flare type of 12, who can also do 10 duties like Willemse/ Sasha MG. This kid will fit right in.

Greig Oliver died in a paragliding accident in SA today. His son was named on the bench for the Fiji game tomorrow.

RIP to the family. My sister's kid is an instructor in paragliding. I saw them often at Sir Lowry and Franshoek passes. He had an accident in Hermanus and struggled for years to recover.
Great day of u20 rugby lining up on a nice summer day. We have our provincial Craven Week also starting at 8, so a day full of youth rugby.

Lovely running rugby by the Georgians, although their 14 is a bit of a numptie.
25-17 to Georgia with 17 minutes to play and Italy under the cosh.

I missed the start; did the England lads to a little Haka at the start, after coming out in that strip ?
