The Bay have come out strong in the second half. 3 quick tries (including a penalty try with no yellow card) has them leading 34-33.
Ironically, it is the same score in the other game with the other Bay leading Counties by the same score

Ref evens it up. Yellow card Auckland and Cantabs right on the line

He is a man with options. Googling him shows he was born in England, raised in Ireland, has Dutch heritage and (presumably by now) would be NZ qualified through residency.
He wants to be really sure that the drop in performance every other time he has subbed Drummond wasn’t just a coincidence. That’s the only reason I can think of. It is paint by numbers coaching.
We both automatically assumed the worst from ThorneJb1981 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:13 amHe wants to be really sure that the drop in performance every other time he has subbed Drummond wasn’t just a coincidence. That’s the only reason I can think of. It is paint by numbers coaching.
Perfectly understandable, I assumed the same at first, too.Kiwias wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:18 amWe both automatically assumed the worst from ThorneJb1981 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:13 amHe wants to be really sure that the drop in performance every other time he has subbed Drummond wasn’t just a coincidence. Will beating the #1 and #2 teams in the last two rounds and staying up mean Thorne remains our coach?Gumboot wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:21 amPerfectly understandable, I assumed the same at first, too.Kiwias wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:18 amWe both automatically assumed the worst from ThorneJb1981 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:13 am

Are there better options?
On one hand we were close in a number of games (did we lose three by a point?) but on the other we were a golden point win against Wellington from going down. My pick is that they will give him another year.
That said, the way things are going Thorne is just as likely to pop up on the AB coaching panel with his record.

Maybe he just needed a full season to settle in. I'll still support Canterbury next year even if he is still the coach.Jb1981 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:31 am Are there better options?

Absolutely, I will support them (and the AB’s for that matter) no matter who is coach. Hopefully you are right and the last two games were turning the corner and it can continue next year.Kiwias wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:52 amMaybe he just needed a full season to settle in.
