Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

Agreed. No criticism intended.

It shows the challenges of refereeing and making the right decisions these days. It is the inconsistent approach and variations in how the laws are applied that is maddening more than specific decisions ...

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

Refereeing was a major contributor to Scotland’s wins over England in 2018 and 2022, off the top of my head. I will concede that you seem to be getting the wrong side of the coin a fair amount recently, equally this could all change very quickly and you’ll get a run of 50/50s.

We also tend ...

I can’t get past the feeling that we’re going to see yet another game where Ireland turn us over without ever really getting out of third gear. I really hope I’m wrong as I am so tired of losing to this mob, but here we are.

12 is now quite the conundrum. I can't recall a time when we had 3 options that I find myself flitting about on. Form wise, Hutchison is the one, seems to be playing as well as he ever has. My concern though is that it leaves our backline somewhat unbalanced. One of the centres needs to truck it ...

Very disappointing Dobie not involved against Oz. Probably be White and Price.

Can't believe Townsend has overlooked Dobbie (well, I can because GT is in charge - but ... WTF!).

Saw Andy Christie got a potentially career ending injury today. All the best to him. Probably the most consistent and effective SQ back rower over the past year (maybe Matt F or Jack D aside) but a shoo in for the autumn IMO.

Why can't Townsend put teams on the pitch that are adequately focused and able to build and apply pressure? We are world champs at making it easy for the opposition to get a foothold in the game when we get ahead. Very, very poor tonight.

The team is the epitome of GT as a player - very occasionally brilliant, consistently inconsistent and often feckless. After 7 years of opportunity it is resoundingly clear that Townsend doesn't have the capabilities to be an international coach. Time for him to go.
